Does Delany Hate Michigan?

I'm sure somebody at some point will bring this up to the Alabama players. "You're playing Michigan, they're in the Big 10, their commissioner doesn't respect you or think you deserved your title last year = the Big 10 and Michigan don't respect you". It's a long offseason so I'm sure it will be brought up eventually to get one more rep out of a player in the weight room or something.

That said, it doesn't matter. Our team will be fired up for the opener in Dallas regardless of bulletin board material. It also doesn't matter because Bama is going to beat the shit out of Michigan because they have the better players, better coaching staff, and better depth. I think that will be enough.

This is bulletin board material right here. A fan of Bama is disrespecting Michigan on a public forum. This is gonna fire up the Michigan players so much. Bama better be ready. lol

Are you a grad of A&M or Michigan? Or just a fan of both? Just curious.

Enrolled for my undergrad at A&M and I'm going to get my master's from Michigan.

Michigan will have plenty of bulletin board material by the time the game is played. Most analysts will likely pick Bama to win big. They will have the "us against the world" attitude, nobody respects us, etc.

My point is none of it matters. When they step on the field, the better and more prepared team will win. That will be Alabama.

  • Man, some of you need to get a life. You can't be serious with this crap, can you?

The Big Ten may not have as many championships as the great SEC, but we do things ethically (minus Ohio State) and we contribute on a bigger level than W/L's. The SEC fans treat their schools like pro teams because they have none.

  • If they need extra motivation something is wrong. They are playing in Cowboy's stadium. That should be motivation enough. Who cares what some 60 year old man said.

What a idiot, with the comments he made to the AP recently. All he is doing is giving Bama and CNS more motivation to beat Michigan.

Michigan has no chance to beat Bama. The real stupidity is Michigan's choice to play Bama. Michigan's schedule isn't easy w/o Bama. Someone should remind Delaney/Hoke/Brandon that SOS isn't included in the BCS formula. Taking the physical abuse from Bama could hurt Michigan early in the season and lead to an unexpected loss. Michigan is one injury away (at QB) from 6-6.

PSU staff was the example of doing things ethically. BTW Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Texas all have pro teams.

Agree. Not sure many people would put Delaney above Slive. Hell, Larry Scott is a better commissioner than Delaney is and he's only been on the job for less than 3 years.

    Hahaha Larry Scott....

why bother with the truth. Its much more fun making sh&t up..I mean Wisconsin certainly wouldnt screw over a basketball player because he chose to transfer to a different shcool. Only evil SEC coaches do that.

When it comes to sports, you know your team sucks when you start talking about how your team has better ethics. I remember making that same argument when Mike Shula was Alabama's coach. We couldnt beat Auburn but Mike was an Angel. All our rivals had great respect for him too. Amazingly, they cant stand Nick Saban. I wonder why?

Yes, but I highly doubt that anyone on your team is thinking about this every time they hit the weight room or the field. Bulletin board material is players calling out players, coaches calling out players, etc, nobody cares what some 60 year old guy has to say.

You're retarded if you don't think they will use this as bulletin board material. This is the very definition of bulletin board material. Someone belonging to a particular group (regardless of direct or indirect affiliation) talking direct smack about another group that will be meeting you in the future in whatever sport you play.

Now it probably won't be plastered all over the walls like the "never again" signs but it will still be mentioned.

guess I am retarded because I doubt anyone in the SEC cares what a man who is the commissioner of an irrelevant conference says. Especially players.

Stop it, this is nothing like never again. I bet you 98% of the players on Alabama's roster wouldn't be able to tell you who he is if you asked them. All of them can tell you what happened in November of 2010.

You are absolutely crazy if you don't think Scott Cochran will bring this up in the weight room and or warmups. Like I said football is an emotional sport. Before the Georgia game Scott Cochran said the reason Georgia is wearing black is because they were going to a funeral. A georgia player never said anything but Cochran used that as motivation. Now I am not saying that is will be plastered to the wall for the whole year like "never again " was but you are crazy if you think it won't be brought up at all.

remember in high school at that baseball game when one of the opposing teams parents got a little crazy and started making a fool of himself (or herself) and hollering at you and your players? That is kinda like what this is. None of the players themselves said anything but boy was beating them so sweet because of that one parent.

my point is not whether or not it will matter. that is totally irrelevant to whether or not it will be brought up or talked about amongst the players.

  • Delaney shits gold bricks for breakfast. As for Scott, the PAC is doing everything we did 5 years ago. To their credit it is a profitable strategy.

    ErnieMcCracken

  • I can't believe there are still Big Ten fans talking about being ethically sound.. That's what we heard from the elitist Ohio State fans all those years under Tressel. That's what we heard about Paterno's senile old ass all those years. OSU went out and hired one of those "Unethical" SEC guys, who happens to fit that program to a tee. Penn State covered up little boys being molested for years.

Most everything that happens in the SEC, happens in the Big Ten (except we don't molest boys) Difference is, the South has better players, in bigger quanities, which is why our league is top to bottom better than Delaney's conference.

There is no more leg to stand on in that conference. No more excuses for being inferior in literally every way athletically. And guess what.. That ain't changing anytime soon.

The south will continue to produce better athletes and its teams will continue to be much better. Delaney wants so bad for his conference to be recognized as the nations best. There isn't even an argument anymore. The SEC is universally known as the very best and the perception only gets stronger each and every year. The guy is petty and jealous. His public comments and his stance on just about every issue reflects that fact.

BTW: You guys have Ohio State starting in 2006 to thank for the difference in perception. People were talking about that Ohio State team being one of the greatest ever. Heisman winning QB Troy Smith had 42 total yards against UF. OSU's offense managed 80 total yards of offense on the way to a massive beatdown. The attitude OSU and the rest of the Big Ten had going into that game was priceless. It's the same attitude they have today, as though nobody else belongs. Remember the "MIchigan is the second best team" argument that year? They went out and got spanked by USCw. Then OSU again gets spanked the next year against LSU in the natl title game. At that point, the word was out about the Big Ten.

OSU carried that league for years. They were supposed to be the big boy in that conference. They showed that they didn't stack up to the SEC. The Big Ten couldn' stack up with USCw either. Until someone steps up and redeems the Big Ten (we already know it won't be OSU) the perception will remain. This eats Delaney alive inside. Michigan will get their chance to start digging into the Big Tens rep this year. While I don't expect them to beat Bama, they've proven to be a real program in the past. If anyone in the Big Ten is going to change that perception and join the big boys, it's going to be them.
