Does Devin Gardner getting 1 more year help or hurt tOSU?

  • Common thinking would say it helps tOSU due to Devin "I run good out routes" Gardner being a horrible QB and being under center for 1 more year ...BUT, after thinking about it, I actually thinks it hurts tOSU. This will move will likely keep Shane "mono" Morris sidelined in 2014. IMO, would much rather have Shane throwing more frequent INT's to Eli Apple, Vonn Bell and company than Gardner taking more frequent sacks from Spence, Washington and company.

    Thoughts?

Not a troll. I guess the nicknames i inserted for each QB could be considered that.

I think both QB's suck. I was happy to hear Gardner got one more year, but not so sure. I should have directed this thread more towards the BIG contigent instead of tOSU, but the point still stands.

  • Your QB is a career 55% completion % and averaged 168 yards a game last year. Do you really want to talk about passing QB's?

  • Gardner worries me a lot more than Morris. Gardner looked decent last year in the last few games after spending the entire first half of the year with the receivers.

I'm certainly not scared of either, but I think Gardner will have a nice season especially if Green can give them something on the ground. I'll worry about Morris when he does anything on any playing field.

I don't ever worry about B1G teams though.

Not even when Bama is playing a Big Ten team? Especially the first 3 minutes when the game is still competitive?

  • The more Shane Morris plays, the better for all of the B1G.

And yet, if he had signed with MSU, he'd be the second coming. Funny how that works.

This is not about bad passing QB's. It's about bad QB's period.

Wait, so does this mean Denard was a good QB? That would seem to fly in the face the of the Bucknut narrative.

    Von eh?

Roster that thin that you are already relying on true frosh?

    It's okay to be butthurt.

Notice how i included two freshman (Eli Apple too) because I figured Morris would be playing against them instead of our current Jr's and Sr's that are in the secondary.

Miller's a solid runningback. Look at Gardner's stats for the last 5 games, he had success and didn't have practice at QB. With an offseason to improve, he'll be a solid QB.

    Not my narrative.

He was a good QB. Obviously running was more of his forte than passing. That would be like people saying Tommy Frazier or Tebow were bad QB's in college (even though I don't think Denard was on that level, but he was still good).

I prefer looking at his 2nd half stats against tOSU.

Also, yes Miller is great at running. But that's what he does best. He will develop into a good enough passer to be a serious threat. Gardner sucks on both fronts.

Passed for 11 TDs and ran for 7 more in the 5 games he played last season. But yeah, he totally sucks on both fronts. Not to mention his 243.8 passing YPG as compared to Miller's 169.9 passing YPG.
