Does having dedicated threads lower the creation of new threads?

  • I know this board won't ever be the MB

    But I think these dedicAted threads aren't helping.

  • I love dedicated threads. It keeps the board from cluttering and if you ever have a question about video games or want some lulz from the LNC, you only have to go to one place.

    So I'm a big believer in dedicated threads and think they should be here to stay.

    Why would dedicated threads hurt? Every board pretty much has dedicated threads except for the MB because it can't handle threads that go over 40 pages.

    Me personally I'm not going to waste time trying to sort through a 30 page thread.

    Not sure why I am receiving downvotes. I thought it was a valid question.

    Maybe comparing it to the MB was wrong. I just want more conversations.

    You don't have to read through the entire thread. Usually just the last few posts.

    I would much rather have one dedicated thread than 10 threads on the same topic.

  • There are a few I don't understand how they've kept going.

    Like the Virginia Va. Tech thread.

    Or the Indiana university football thread.

    The Michigan MSU (and one guy from Arky) thread I understand because they have huge fanbases.

    But the other ones like the music or video game thread make sense, so of course those are going to stick. But there are a handful I just don't understand how they've kept going.

    I'm fairly new to 247. But are some threads kept alive just for the sake of keeping them alive?

    The MSU VS UM thread only has a handful of posters too. Most of tRCMB is banned from tBB.

  • Rivals technology won't allow for dedicated threads. Great boards like tBB and TMB have dedicated threads. Keeps discussion in the right place. If I want to talk gaming, I don't want to have to search for 30 different threads. Instead, there is only one thread that is everything gaming.

    You don't have to read through 30 pages. I never do. If I enter a thread like the VG thread with a question, ill just ask the question. If I post some news that has already been posted, its no big deal because its in that thread, and not another topic on the board about the same thing that was already discussed.

    Not to mention the MB sucks due to poster quality. Quantity doesn't equal quality. tBB and TMB >>> MB.
