Does the B1G now have the best coaches in college football?

Outside of Saban / Miles what does the SEC have coaching-wise?

Petrino? The next big game he wins will be the first.

    Chizik? Jury still out IMO.

    Richt? No.

    After that pretty much nothing.

They are great coaches and they would win lots of games in the big 10 12 or whatever. They have to coach on teams that have no talent and no history. And they coach against way better teams. Career suicide IMO to coach anywhere in the SEC besides Florida, LSU Georgia, Alabama. They can go to your conference and get to the national title though and probably lose to One of the 4. USC Trojans is gonna be back on top in a few years and they can beat an SEC team.

B10 def holds the lead in employing coaches who molest children, so you can always fall back on that.

Going 10-2 in the SEC East without playing Alabama or LSU was like going 10-2 in the Big 12 North without playing Texas or Oklahoma.

Are you serious? What is Texas' record this year? Who has Oklahoma loss to this year? If those are your 2 best teams, I would stay out of the conversation.

I think we should wait to see what these guys can do before crowning the B1G as coaching kings. Obviously Meyer brings credibility, but what has Dantonio done to this point to be labeled a great coach? Same for Pelini, Fitzgerald, and really Ferentz and Bielema? I don't remember any of them winning big games either, outside of Ferentz beating Ga Tech a couple years ago.

Yeah Ferentz is overrated in my opinion.

Haha I'd actually disagree with you on that. The guy consistently takes 3-star OL and DL and turns them into monsters in the trenches. Iowa has down years, but it's Iowa, and they usually just falter when they have a lot of youth (like this year).

I meant as far as when it comes to winning big games.

  • I do find it interesting that some big ten teams are willing to spend more for coordinators. They were famous for not spending money on assistants let alone head coaches. Might contribute to a better product down the road.

  • Urban Meyer, Brady Hoke, Dantonio, Bielema and Ferentz are solid coaches. The problem is the second tier, along with Penn State. No one would say those coaches are great, maybe with the exception of Pat Fitzgerald. Let us see who Illinois hires, and Penn State, then comment how good the Big 10 is.

Before Saban came to Bama, I don't remember our coaches getting raises every year. Since he's been here, he's been really good about getting our coaches raises. Shows how much he appreciates his coaches.

Money talks and says more than tradition/prestige. Just ask Auburn. I kid, I kid.

I honestly can't remember what big games Ferentz has been in besides the BCS bowl against Ga Tech (which was a great matchup for Iowa).
