  • Montgomery, Mingo and Logan are expected to all announce together that they're entering the draft.

6 out of 11 defensive starters leaving LSU early. Possibly 7 if Craig Loston follows the trend set by his teammates. LSU fans, do you think Loston declares?

  • Stills and Jefferson from OU to the league.

  • Just some background on the LSU kids

Wing-as already mentioned the drug tests did factor but he was gone anyway. It's been known about since the summer and part of the reason the other Australian punter(Keehn) was brought in. He's a party boy and never has been big on the academic side of his life and that is the primary reason he's gone. Also helps that he's gonna slot where he's gonna slot as far as the NFL is concerned regardless of what year he enters. Might as well go ahead if school isn't his thing. As for his NFL future, it's bright if he can leave the wacky stuff alone. The kid is an awesome punter and probably the best combination of natural punting skills I've ever seen. The Colquitt boys are all very good at the craft but to me Wing is on another level in terms of distance, directional kicking and putting the ball perfectly inside the 10. Had a bit of a down year this year but still showed flashes of his enormous talent as a punter.

Ware-is what he is and has the ideal NFL skillset with the size, power, blocking skill and ability to catch the football. Another that isn't really the college type

Mingo-ideal 3-4 OLB that really couldn't improve his stock any further. He's projected top 10 so basically a no brainer

Montgomery-already a year lost because of injury and his stock isn't going any higher. No brainer since he's a 1st rounder

Logan-should stay imo but with the need for quality DTs in the NFL I can understand it. Classic run stuffer with some pass rushing ability. Likely a 2nd-3rd round guy

Minter-Mosely staying made this decision easier. He'll slot in right behind Teo at MLB and quite honestly I'm not sure he should slot behind Teo. He's every bit as good and maybe better in the combine workout setting. His film is gonna be impressive. Late 1st-2nd round guy

Simon-should stay but he'll blow away in terms of measurables. Not many 6'3ish(not quite) 190 CBs that can run and be as athletic as Simon. Just based on play he'd be a 4th round type guy but once he hits the combine and individual workouts he'll fly up boards. Way too much upside to fall too far. I say 2nd

Reid-probably the most pro ready S in the draft physically and mentally. Imo a definite SS in the NFL but he may suprise. Don't think he had a good year(definitely not the AA that he got accolades for) but his measurables and smarts will get him drafted high enough to warrant the early entry. Late 1st-2nd round

Ford-hasn't declared and probably shouldn't but his stock isn't gonna go up. He's a situational back at LSU and KR. He'll make teams love him in the draft process because of his work ethic and combination of size/speed/strength(pound for pound the strongest kid on the roster) He's one of those looks better than he plays type kids. I wish the best for him in whatever decision he makes because he does work hard and is such a likable yooung man.

Loston-would be an incredibly dumb decision if he left. He played pretty well this year but he doesn't have enough of a body of work to get drafted to his talent. His SR year would benefit him greatly if he stays healthy. He's a pro talent without question. Hasn't declared

Thanks for the info, good write-up. Where do you project the non-juniors will go?- PJ Lonergan, Alex Hurst, Russell Shepard, Lavar Edwards and Josh Downs.

Also, is Chris Faulk another potential early entry?

Lastly, what kind of a year do you think LSU is destined for next year, after losing so much quality talent?

    Adamson651

  • Aaron Murray is coming back!

    TeddyG

  • LSU has been one of the most fortunate programs in which guys that are coming in from HS can compete immediately at the college level. Hard to believe that all of these guys are juniors. If we could get them back I would say preseason Top 3 again, but we are looking at a Top 15 preseason and probably a 9-3 record next year, possibly 8-4 with the drawing of Florida and Georgia next year. 2014 will be our year to compete for the title again but hell who knows about college football because no one expected ND to be in the title game. That being said, these are not just some duds trying to get out but all of them are studs that with a little grooming are NFL ready, so hopefully recruits see this and they will get in here and help us keep competing for the title year in and year out.

  • Add one to the list of LSU players leaving early: Michael Ford.

Craig Loston is returning though, which looks like it may be a surprise to some.

Also declaring: Zach Ertz and Levine Toilolo. Both Stanford TEs.
