    Well, Maxwell is a RS SR this year and Harris is a 2014 recruit. They'd never play together.

    FWIW, Harris didn't visit tOSU this past weekend and he's going to be at the Breslin tonight for the MSU/UM game (along with Malik McDowell). He may decommit at some point, but it hasn't happened yet.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    FWIW, MSU completed just 20 fewer passes than tOSU ATTEMPTED last year. If he's looking for an offense to showcase his skills as a receiver, it won't be tOSU. You guys are going to be great for slot receivers, APBs, receiving TEs and dual threat QBs, but the drop-back passers and bigger WRs should be going to pro-style O's. I think Bama is the biggest threat overall.

    In no way am I counting tOSU out of it, just saying that more goes into a decision than a winning record. MSU is the closest major program to his hometown (in terms of distance) and just a year ago it was tOSU with the 6-6 record and MSU with an 11 W season. Spartans have a pretty darn good history of producing WRs as well; the last 5-star WR @MSU was Charles Rogers and though he made some poor decisions post-college, he did win the Biletnikoff award before he left.

    MSU's O, though not good this past year, is going to throw the rock 400 times/season. That's a lot of opportunities in the context of a downfield, pro-style attack. A WR with NFL aspirations could do worse than come up in that system; of the last 3 SR WRs MSU had, 2 got drafted and the 3rd made the league as a UDFA.

    I know top programs are coming to come after Harris; that's a hazard of recruiting top talent. I don't think he's just using MSU as a placeholder and I'd expect MSU to be in it till the end.

    I remember a multitude of schools going hard after Will Gholston and Lawrence Thomas after they committed to MSU. Dantonio has shown he can keep in-state 5-stars at home.

  • Wouldn't count Michigan outta this one. He loves the pro-style offense it seems, and I'd imagine Hoke is gonna sell him on being the next top WR for Michigan with the transition to the Offense he prefers. Oh, Shane Morris and Wilton Speight is recruiting him pretty good. lol

    So is Damion Terry. I think the pro-style O's are the ones that he's going to lean towards, which is why I think Bama is the biggest threat.

    Agree. Drake Harris ends up at one of Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama or USC. Zero chance he ends up at OSU.

    It's still a system, regardless of what QB Urban brings in in 2015 to replace Braxton..

    Urban has several receivers in the NFL...he throws the ball plenty and Drake loves him some Corch Meyer. Kids wanna win...first and foremost. There will be plenty of balls for him to catch...

    Exactly. WRs don't matter in Urbie's system. And in what world is it guaranteed JT will be any better of a passer than BM? We've heard for two years what a great passer BM is (better than TP) and the guy has yet to crack 60%. Urbie will have slot receivers and APB falling all over themselves to come to Columbus. But big prototypical NFL wideouts? Not so much.

    Drake Harris is not in the Percy Harvin mold. As I said, tOSU's O is great for dual threat QBs, catch-first TEs, APBs and slot receivers. It's not the greatest for the bigger outside WRs.

    David Nelson was really recruited by Ron Zook and after Urbie was done with using him as a blocker he went undrafted.

    Riley Cooper grew up a UF fan and was not an elite WR coming out of HS. He was an athlete and after Urbie got done with using him as a blocker he was drafted in the 5th round.

    Andre Caldwell is 6'. He's not a big prototypical wideout like Harris.

    Jabar Gaffney was drafted in 2002. He played for Spurrier at UF not Urbie.

    Louis Murphy is the only one who sort of fits and one elite prototypical NFL wideout during 6 years at UF is not much of a sales pitch.

    Look at the WRs Urbie has been able to land at OSU the past two classes. He has whiffed on every elite wideout he's gone after who is over 6' tall. The closest you can find is Epitropolous (sp?) and he grew up a Buckeye in Ohio and is nowhere close to elite. Urbie's system is not attractive to big prototypical wideouts and he is going to continue to struggle to land them as a result.

    Meh do better. That's not a sticking point. We just know he loves Corch and kids like to win. We had a 60 catch receiver this year and he dropped a bunch. Harris will get all the throws he wants...
