  • Tom Izzo has convinced him to play basketball. The "attempt" to let him play both sports will probably last for a year or so before he goes to bball full time. It's really too bad, he is a rare piece at WR, running a 4.4 while being 6'4" but seems to like basketball more where he is undersized as a SG.

Sadly, he is most likely headed to MSU, they've been recruiting him for bball since he was a freshman.

I'll give you UM'ers credit where it's due. When you come up with a talking point / excuse, everyone falls in line and sticks to it. We MSU fans are too fractured and hate each other way too much to ever pull that off.

You know it's true though, he will not be able to do both sports, not with the way the S&C programs are set up and how the seasons overlap. Izzo won this battle because the kid loves basketball and he has been hard after him for awhile now.

Has there ever been a player at MSU who played both sports throughout his career?

Have they been successful enough to make either professional league? He will have to choose one and commit to it to reach his full potential.

Matt Trannon was not anything special in either sport.

Tremendous(guy who run the thisismichigan.blogspot blog and interviews a ton of recruits) actually guessed Michigan so who really knows but a lot of indicators point to MSU.

He's ranked in the top 100 in the country in both sports. That's hardly awful.

This hits the nail on the head.

His first love is Basketball and Izzo has been hard after him for a long time. Dantonio should send Izzo a thank you basket for this one...

While he is a very good HS hoops player, his combination of size/athleticism at WR is a rarity.

I know, we'll see. Timing is odd because he just got his Michigan football schollie, but also just camped at MSU.

It would almost be worth it to see how quickly he becomes a two sport savior.

No, I don't think he would end up playing basketball at Michigan, Hoke would most likely tell he to choose a sport after his freshman year.

Not at MSU, but Julius Peppers, Tony Gonzalez, Donovan McNabb, Charlie Ward and IIRC Antwan Randal-El all played both during their colligate career’s. Stud TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins did both this past year at UW.

I’m sure that if Antonio Gate’s would have been given the chance he would have played both at MSU as well.

I think he could do both. IMO his future’s brighter in Football since 6’4 G’s (FWIW he would probably be 6’5 or 6’6 in shoes) are a dime a dozen in the NBA, but I don’t see why he couldn’t do both.
