Maybe if we tie for 3rd in the B1G, and have an alum on the Sugar Bowl committee we can do that. (Oh wait, didn't UM do that last year?)

Hey, UM is still relevant. If the UM/VT game wasn't such a laughable joke (as noted by every sportwriter in the country last year, based on the teams being there, and then again by the crap show both teams put up on the field), we wouldn't have a college football playoff now.

The BCS was created when the media gifted UM it's first championship since the 1940s (and sports fans were outraged), and then the BCS was killed off when UM was gifted what people used to think of as a prestigious bowl invite.

See you Oct. 20th, I'm really looking forward to those Denard Robinson arm punts.

    Still tastes like sugar

I'd take Plaxico over those guys, too. Plax at least has a notable pro career. I've never even heard of Anthony Carter, and Manningham is a pedestrian pro and was an unremarkable college player. Edwards was a great, but not elite, college WR. Howard is a punt returner, and Woodson isn't even a WR.

You just said Braylon Edwards was not an elite college WR. Everything you said up until and after this point in time is now rendered meaningless.

The BCS got killed off and we have a playoff because of the controversy for who would play in the National Championship game.

You mean that without us having a HOF basketball coach he wouldn't want to play basketball at MSU? I'm curious at to what your logic is behind this post. That would be like me saying, "Without UM's storied history, X recruit who had an MSU offer wouldn't even think about playing football at UM".

Really comes off as an inconsequential point.

My point is: some/most MSU fans are likely to think this is a recruiting win for MD. I just wanted to point out, that couldnt be further from the truth.

    Nothing more. Nothing less.

    Nice pickup for Izzo.

So Dantonio needed another coach's help just to get his first recruiting win for MSU over Michigan this year.

Shane Jones had a Michigan offer. but i guess it wasn't "committable" since he chose MSU

So did aaron burbridge, monty madaris, and demetrius cox.

And because of the joke of the orange bowl and sugar bowl. Everyone in the nation realized that the games were meaningless. along with the outcry from T. Boone Pickens

    lol

This encapsulates Walmart Wolverine "logic" better than anything else could:

If he goes to UM, it's a win for Hokey Pokey, but if he doesn't, it's just some kind of anomaly.

And while Izzo is the biggest draw of the 4 potential coaches between the 2 schools, Dantonio's actual results place him firmly in 2nd place. And this IS a huge win for Dantonio, Harris will be an elite college WR.

I don't think we can discount the 5 star bust rate for UM football players either...not to mention the decades long history of playing well below recruiting and preseason rankings in Ann Arbor.

Shane Jones was told not to visit by the coaching staff. Burbridge may not even qualify, but the others simply chose MSU over Michigan. If you want I can pull up the recruits that had MSU offers but chose Michigan.

Sure alot of Michigan commits had MSU offers. MIchigan is getting good players. Burbridge is qualifying. Jones was told not to visit because Hoke knew he was going to MSU. Same way Hoke never offered Jon Reschke, because he knew he was going to MSU. Same way Hoke will probably pull Drake Harris's scholarship

Well, do you think Dantonio stands a chance against Hoke by himself? Looks like MD already has Izzo working on Malik McDowell for him too.

    1. Jones was told not to visit because Michigan was full on LBs already
    2. Reschke was not deserving of a Michigan offer, so he wasn't offered. Do you think Hoke is afraid of going against MSU "locks?" He got 2 FHH kids last year, a MSU "pipeline."
    3. Hoke will not pull Harris' offer, in fact he will probably keep recruiting him until he signs his LOI. Plus, Harris hasn't committed to MSU yet has he?

This reasoning illustrates the missteps in logic that you weasels seem to have fallen under. I truly believe that the majority of your fanbase values "recruiting victories" as highly as it does any other kind of victory; that is the only explanation as to why the entire lot of you would quickly fall in line with, "Well MD didn't BEAT Hoke for this recruit; it was just Izzo beating Beilein, who didn't even offer Drake a scholarship. So really, none of your guys BEAT any of ours".

Do you not see the stupidity of your argument?

IDK about the others, but Hoke didn't take Shane Jones because he already had two better LBs in this years' class.

That is the lesser of the two battles now in the minds of the Michigan fan. Why beat them on the field just once, when you can beat them 20 times over in the recruiting arena?

There were articles on here that actualyl had quotes from coaches saying that they didn't want to offer because he's an MSU lock and it's a waste of time. I guess the #5 player in the state isn't good enough for hoke shrug
