Count me among those who don't believe that theory.
If Chip only wanted kids who 'truly want to be ducks' then why on earth is he going after a bunch of committed players?
And how would he know that a kid truly wants to be a duck after a week and a half of communication? I'm referring to the newly committed OL from the east coast.

No one here will believe me but here goes;
It appears the staff has a huge focus on kids that truly want to be ducks. They want kids who want to get better, not kids who know how good they are. The staff has also mentioned (and its appearing this cycle) that they don't want me first kids, or big ego types players. They are willing to turn away a Redfield (who actually seems like a high character kid so that one still confuses me) in order to find a kid who wants to be a duck, whether that kid is ranked on recruiting sites or not.
Recruiting stars mean absolutely nothing to our staff and based off their track record they have reason to believe they evaluate better than websites.
Imo the Cliff Harris situation made Chip and co approach recruiting differently. What's the good in having an all american if he can't play due to suspension?
With that said we have done more with less the last 5 years than probably any other team that was a perennial top 10 during that time.
25% of our fans (myself included) have complete faith in their plan and trust in how they are approaching this class. The other 75% is flipping the fvck out right now.

I get all of that, and that makes sense.
But with that success didn't you anticipate a spike in recruiting? I really did, and it's not like there aren't high character kids on out west.
Double that up with our small class and there are pickings to be had.
Seems to me like Chip has a foot out of the door, but that's all conjecture.
