Why don't you post the amount of points scored for SEC teams that have participated in BCS National Title bowl games. Here, I'll help..... 2007.....Florida 41 points 2008.....LSU 38 Points 2009.....Florida 28 points 2010....Alabama 37 points 2011....Auburn 22 points 2012...Alabama 21 points

    Opponents scored 2007.....14 2008.....24 2009.....14 2010....21 2011....19 2012.....0 ( LSU scored around 37 PPG throught the season)

So yeah, The SEC has proven that its best team is killing other conferences best teams. Outside of 2011, The SEC is beating their opponents by double digits in the NC game.

Stats and common sense have no place on here.

No. USC should still be number 1.

    That's your response?

I did not say that USC should be one of the top-5 right now, however, neither should UF. And no way no how should LSU even be sniffing the top-10 right now. UF should be somewhere between 8-10, just like USC.

The notion that Florida and USC should be ranked the same is ridiculous considering Florida has beaten everyone they have played and USC lost to the same Stanford team that later lost to Washington

Wait til after the season and the USC fans boast they certainly would have won the championship, if only they didn't lose a game(s).

Well when you lose one game in three seasons and get by passed for another one loss team in the championship game it wears on you.

One year was a total fix (2003) the next two were arguable but still showed a definite SEC bias in the polls.

Auburn played a bunch of monkey teams to go undefeated in 2004 and they're still whining about being bypassed for two undefeated teams with a real sos. It always works this way when you are the perceived wronged party.

  • It won't be long until USC drops another game they should win and we won't have to hear from them until The polls overvalues them next Pre-season.

Auburn played at least 5 teams that won 9 games or more in 2004. I am guessing that is more than USC plays in almost any year.

it is what it is .their games are unwatchable 3yds.and a cloud of dust ,no offense whatsoever and they claim it's because their defenses are good yea!right chicken or the egg poor offenses or good defenses ? the deck is stacked against the rest of the CFB teams and you know it.just keep it real.

Everyone talks trash about SEC offenses. Okay try to slow down Alabama (michigan didn't) try to slow down Tennessee (NC State didn't and held FSU under 20). Try to slow down South Carolina, Try to slow down Missouri... Oh wait once they came to the SEC they were slown down ... big time hahaha the defenses in the league are THAT good. don't hate on the SEC cause they really are the best overall conference. USC was ranked #1 to start the season and they were obviously overrated so shouldn't we be the ones complaining about how you guys are the ones that are overrated??

Yes, SEC teams that get 4 of those wins for playing monkey teams. Then they beat the bottom feeders in the conference for three more wins and divvy up the two wins by beating themselves round robin. Until recently no Pac teams have scheduled in the "SEC" fashion so this has been very tough to do.

Your post just proves out the SEC system.

This argument has no merit, because Pac 12 teams outside of USC have never accomplished much outside their own conference. Oregon has had two opportunities to show the SEC was overrated against Auburn and LSU in recent years and they got slapped down in both games

Those numbers don't mean anything. They don't show which conference is better top to bottom and they don't even show which conference has better top teams.

Florida State won the BCS national title by 17 points, Oklahoma by 11, Miami by 23, and USC by 39.

Of the 5 BCS games decided by single digits, 3 of them involved SEC teams.

  • In general, I do agree with the article. Frankly, I hate preseason rankings and I think they actually hurt the game of college football. Mostly because voters are resistant to change from what they initially thought.

At the same time...teams outside the SEC had their chances. Oregon really put up a stinker against Auburn. Horrible coaching, IMO. Oregon would have been much better off if they tried early on to get Fairley to jump offsides, gain 5 yards and throw him off by half a second, as he was the one who wreaked havoc on the Ducks most of the time. OSU was terrible in their games. Texas...hard to blame them with McCoy out. Thought they did well having a true freshman thrown into the game, and would have liked to see the outcome with McCoy playing.

Until another team wins the MNC, this will continue unfortunately.

4 different teams in the last 6, but 5 overall out of 12 teams. Counting 14 in the SEC when we haven't completed a full season with 14 is dishonest.

Yes a FG win as time expires is a real "slap down".

Other than that this has nothing to do with my post about how SEC teams can almost always win 9-10 games with a decent but not great team.

That article is right about the preseason rankings. For those that don't think there is a bias
in the polls against western teams, and favoritism for the south, then take a look at the gigantic difference
between the consensus preseason rankings and the final ranking. It's rather obvious.

I counted the # of times that SEC teams & PAC teams were ranked
in the Top 4 of the Pre-Season Consensus Rankings
(Gathered by Stassen; that uses all the major polls and national magazines).

(I counted Utah and Colorado in the consensus and the final poll since they are both
western teams anyway, and because it balances the numbers of teams in each conference to 12).

I then compared it to the Final AP Poll Top 4.
I started with the BCS Era (going back to 1998)

    FINAL AP POLL (1998-2011)
Teams Finishing in the Top 4
    SEC - 16 Teams
    PAC - 16 Teams (Includes Utah-2x)

    --------------

    Pre-Season Consensus Top 4 (1998-2011)
    SEC - 13
    PAC - 7
    ========
*I found this interesting, so I dug a little deeper.
So I went back 25+ years to 1986.

    FINAL AP POLL (1986-2011)
Teams Finishing in the Top 4
    SEC - 22 Teams
    PAC - 22 Teams (Includes Colorado-3x & Utah-2x)

However, the Pre-Season Consensus only went back to 1989, so from 1989
the SEC had the same 22 teams and the PAC had 21 teams.

    -----------

    Pre-Season Consensus Top 4 (1989-2011)
    SEC - 22
    PAC - 8
    ========
Wow, what a difference between the two. Obviously there is a real reluctance to rank
western teams as 1 of the top 4 teams in the nation heading into a season.

The opposite is true for the SEC, the polls give them heavy preseason publicity,
which leads to swayed opinions and perceptions.

The Southeastern bias is blatantly obvious here.

Do you even think your posts through before you hit the post reply button? How can UiF be worthy yet you'll discount LSU? That was UiF's best win to date...against a LSU team that is regressing on a weekly basis. A LSU team that struggled at home against Towson St. But we should give credit to UiF for barely beating an anemic offense?

    Talk about stfu...

No, the LSU team that skull fricked Washington out of the stadium.

You know the same Washington team that beat Stanford. The same Stanford team that took USCw to the woodshed.

    That LSU team.
