No kidding, Taylor died before his prime

Im saying Taylor wouod have been the best ever, not that he was while alive

He was my favorite defensive player ever too watch though, i know that for sure

Best college defender i ever saw for sure, i was too young for LT and i think Taylor > D Brooks but by a close margin

Best ever? Dude could hit for sure, but people go over the top with the love for dude. I dunno, I didn't follow college as much then. but he I never thought he was incredible when he was with the skins. A lot of dumb penalties and bone headed plays. I dont think he would have been better than Troy P

    Preaaaach!

    Amen brudah

I was at that game too, stood there in the pouring rain all by myself

He was so incredible in that game i didn't even care we lost

It was incredible...what did he have 3 picks and 2 or 3 TDs?

After the game, Bowden was talking about the "Miami Safety!" How often does that happen?

The other play I remember was Jamie German getting laid out on the slot screen.

Dude how many Skins games you watch though ?

    4 a year ? Maybe a few more ?

My opinion on Sean is realistic imo, i don't sugarcoat things

I saw every game he ever played since his sophomore year

Kid was top 5 most amazing football talents i saw in my days and defined why south florida kids are so special on the gridiron

Also his pension for scoring TD's was lost among most

Every time his hands touched the ball there was a chance for 6

  • I'll always love Ed Reed for one reason above all others.

I remember back in the day in 2000 or 2001, me and my roommate at AU were doing an NCAA dynasty (I was Miami and he was FSU). I always, ALWAYS beat him, but he had a four point lead on me with like a minute left. He could've downed it and ran out the clock (I was out of time-outs), but he didn't, dude was showboating, and threw a deep ball ... and you just know Reed picked it off and housed it like 88 yards.

I think we can all agree that Brian Dawkins is the best player to ever strap on a pair of cleats

    Honestly who knows?

Troy has brought his own style no doubt. Palumalu could/can play all over the field, but I feel the biggest difference he made was against the run, close to the LOS.

Taylor was an absolute assassin downfield. A killer, with hands, wingspan, and he could close on the ball incredibly well. No to mention elite INT return ability.

A little different as players. Both could do anything, but Troy was just a little better at the LOS, and Sean a little better downfield.

    Just my opinion.

    Reed is amazing.

But Taylor could've changed the position forever -

I will never forget that game at FSU in the rain.

    Taylor's HS highlights are fun..

"Taylor attended Gulliver Preparatory High School in Dade County playing running back, linebacker, and defensive back. Over his high school career, Taylor broke Emmitt Smith's TD record scoring a whopping 44 touchdowns."

    http://www.hogshaven.com/2012/1/18/2717588/a-rare-sean-taylor-high-school-football-highlights-video-emerges

"What people didn't realize about Sean, when they threw an interception to him, they threw it to the best running back in the country." - Butch Davis

    I love Hogs Haven.

  • Reed >>> Taylor IMO.

I'll just never understand the cult-like fascination/worship with perhaps the most physically gifted athlete to play S that causes a small group of fans to romanticize/elevate his actual accomplishments into the stratosphere.

Having said that I fully understand that everyone has their favorite players who may not necessarily be the "best" player. But when you try to unjustifiably blur that distinction--especially relying on "what if" arguments--I don't get it at all. Many safeties >>>Taylor

With the exception of MJ and maybe Jerry Rice, arguing GOAT is kind of a ridiculous enterprise to begin with. Arguing who COULD have been GOAT is just at a whole nother level

    cool word

I just think lots underestimate how fun it was to watch Sean play

Imo or in my experience only Canes and Skins understand why he was so beloved by fans

And a few Noles who aren't total jerkoffs, so like 6 of us
