Eddie Lacy will be the 6th best RB Notre Dame will have faced.

I am not hating at all but Lacy is a product of the system the same way Ingram was. Nothing really special about him and it is not hard to run through holes that are 3 yards wide. Now, Yeldon is a different story and I expect him to probably win the Heisman at some point during his career because of his talent not because of the system.

Based on this idiotic post, Reggie Bush is a product of the system.

  • It means if he didn't play at Bama there was no way in hell he would have won the Heisman.

You are an idiot if you think he was better than Montee Ball, Felix Jones, Cadillac Williams and etc who never won Heismans but were better pure college RBs than Ingram.

The f'ING Homerism is out of control. Way to only pick one part of my post also. This has nothing to do with his time in N.O. either. GTFO

Yes. Bama had a history of Heisman winners like no other. I remember when Stabler,Namath, Shaun Alexander, Duece and all those guys won it. The media loves us.

You might be the dumbest poster on tBB Congrats. Are u seriously saying Mark Ingram Is comparable to Reggie Bush in college.

Let's see Bush was the most electrifying player in all college catching, running, returning kicks and flat out be being better than anyone else on the field.

Mark Ingram ran between the tackles in lanes 4 yards wide. Yea no difference. [dummy]

Ingram only played three years and had a better ypc avg than everyone you mentioned, besides Felix Jones.

Love the jelly though, keep it up.

I was responding to your "product of the system" post. That in itself was idiotic and shows your low football IQ if you believe it.

I think you're missing part of the point. I agree that Ingram wasn't a great Heisman winner. And you're right, there is, in my mind, a pretty decent list of backs that were as good or better than him that didn't win it, or even get invited (Cadillac, Knowshown Moreno, Felix Jones, etc). I think he did win it in large part because of the Alabama/Saban hype....but that's part of a lot of Heisman wins.

But that isn't really the point and isn't what people are primarily attacking. It's the idea that he was a "system" product. The idea that he was only successful because he played in some particular system. I, as most others on here, don't consider Alabama's offense to be remotely any kind of "system"...certainly no more than what any number of other great players play in (especially Montee Ball or any running back at Wisconsin), and far less of a system than what Manzeil or Tebow or Bradford or LeMichael James played in.

Give an honest opinion that you don't think Ingram or Lacy are that special of a talent...cool, that's an opinion. Blaming their success on Alabama's "system" though, doesn't make much sense.

I definitely understand where you are coming from better now but I was basing it off the fact that Alabama's Offense is a Power Running System. I was using the analogy the same way some QBs are considered system QBs. I was not slighting them in the least and I am ignoring that other fellow now for even suggeting that I am jealous considering I stated that Yeldon is indeed special the same way T-RIch was.

Agree on that point. Yeldon could be better Richardon, although T-Rich wouldn't go down easily. To me, that's why Ingram was so special. The yards after contact were ridiculous. Ingram was harder to bring down than Trent.

Love it how people that don't even know what they are talking about and have an agenda against Bama try to make up Chet about Players they obviously haven't ever seen play in college.. SMH

  • I actually understand what LaBornNraised means by "product of the system". But most great CFB running backs are...Montee Ball and Eddie Lacy are very similar in their running ability, Lacy is a product of a great Oline, combined with a great running-back system. Lacy is a Top5 RB in the country but he is not Trent Richardson. If any RB at Alabama should have won the Heisman it should have been Trent, but Mark Ingram and the 2009 team went undefeated and that is where the Heisman is strange, Johnny Football is a great CFB QB for his system, just like Cam Newton was a product of the Malzohn system. If either of them played at Alabama they would not have won the Heisman...that is just a fact, and the best RBs are looked at as the best because of the opportunity the offense gives them. Not many people give Lacy his due, but saying he is on par with other big time RBs like Reggie Bush, Caddilac, etc. is crazy....but you can easily put Trent in that category, and perhaps Yeldon will be very soon.

And to the OP, Lacy is on par with the 2 best RBs ND has faced (Graham (healthy), and Taylor) but adding Yeldon to the mix trumps the 1 RB of the others...and it will show in the 2nd half when Lacy and Yeldon are just getting into a grove. Alabama is cleary the best offense ND has faced in terms of balance. Ask Pitt, BYU, and Purdue what a balance offense can do to ND.....and ask Oklahoma how well throwing the ball over 50 times does, and then look at Michigan who ran the ball 40 times. A great balance offense is better than the defenseless big12 throw and gun.

Do not agree at ALL! Ingram was a finesse type that you couldn't arm tackle because he was very slippery. Trent was someone you couldn't tackle at all by yourself....he would carry people 4-5 yards like a bull. Lacy and Ingram are a lot alike, as they have very good power combined with some finesse, however Trent combined a brut force while being a one cut RB. He also had the best feet in the hole of any RB that ever put on a uniform at Alabama.

He said offense not running game. OU offense>>Bama offense. With that being said Bama's scares me more with power running game.

i'll take Bama's offense over ou's offense any day of the week.
we had the 2nd and 3rd team in a good bit in the 2nd half of at least1/2 our games.
oklahoma doesn't have near the balance or toughness.

key play of the uga game...3rd and 5 in the 4th quarter trailing...we run yeldon up the middle for first down...next play, play action td to cooper from 45 yards...that's a good offense.
