Emmit Smith

  • For some reason some Michigain/ Detroit Lion fan said E. Smith is overrated, this couldn't be farther from the truth. E Smith is one of the best RB's in NFL history and it isn't even close, his accomplishments are legendary including the most rushing TD's and yards in NFL history. I want to know what the public thinks, what do you guys think of E smith?

I hate the Cowboys but Smith was the real deal Holyfield.. He proved that speed and super athleticism isn't what you need to be a great RB.

No one saw the hole better than Smith. His vision was top notch and his numbers prove that.

Reminds me of Jerry Rice.. Not the biggest, fastest or most athletic guy out there but was a "Football" player that understood the game and played it the right way.

He is FAR FAR aways from overrated and was a pleasure to watch even though I can't stand the Cowboys.

This thank god there are smart ppl in the universe, every 1 always trashes him for the O-line yet when he didn't play in 1993 we were 0-2, the separated shoulder game I was in shock, i separated my shoulder the fact he was on the field and led us to victory one of the most courageous acts I've ever seen. They'll never forget the day E SMith ran for over 100 yards and did it with one arm...

  • he is my favorite pro running back. Barry sanders made the exciting play. Emmitt just chugged along for championships.

Could you imagine if Barry Sanders played for the Cowboys when they were good? Would've been INSANE.

If Barry played on the Cowboys and Emmit played on the Lions, Barry would be considered a top 3 player all time. Emmit would still have been very good, but c'mon man, Barry was the stuff.

this^^^... Everyone on that Dallas line was in the probowl. Plus he had an all pro Moose lead blocking for him.Slightly above average at best.

Because he got injured in his last years, and was replaced by another runningback who was younger just like a lot of great players, so he went to Arizona to finish his career. Hell Jerry Rice had to San Francisco, because he was replaced by T.O as the #1 receiver

  • E. Smith is overrated look at his numbers the guy played with one of the best O-line in NFL history he barely average 4 ypc sometimes he didn't. he's a great running back but IMO not even top 10 all time.

I agree that he's not the best IMO as he did have an elite offensive line. However, other than Barry Sanders and Jim Brown [who played in a different era] there really aren't that many top RBs that averaged significantly more than 4.2 yards per carry.

Emmitt also played until age 35 and those last 3 years decremented his averaged yards per carry as he was past his prime.

Jabrill Peppers...More I watch, the more I'm convinced he is the best player in the 2014 class. Barring injury, he will do special things.

If this is true than how come when he held out the Cowboys were 0-2 and couldn't do anything?

Well.. Jerry Rice, Primetime and many others didn't finish their careers where they started so your post doesn't really hold any water.

  • Nobody believed Emmit would be great in college. He tore it up. People didn't think he'd be a great pro. He tore it up. Regardless of the line, Emmit was always going to be all world. He was a great running back who also played on great teams. When you've done it on every level, you can't keep chalking it up to who he played around.

He is the best that I was alive to witness. I still think Jim Brown is probably the best of all time but Sanders was the best I ever witnessed.

Emmitt Smith certainly wasn't a slouch though. As many have said before, he had the best vision as a RB that I have ever seen.
