  • Glad to see people chatting in this thread, I was just about to bump it. As a City supporter, waiting until Monday to open the season is a painful wait. I really think we are going to the set the tempo for the league by destroying Swansea. I'm calling 5-0 at least.

Watching the Liverpool/Sunderland replay right now. Looking forward to seeing this goal.

I haven't seen the video yet, but I've seen photos, and it's something special. I love seeing the dippers struggle after all the hype they got this summer with so many claiming "king kenny" would lead them back to the promise land. Not going to happen folks.

  • Wow Chelsea with a 0-0 draw to start off under Villa-Boas, I've got some friends who are Chelsea supporters clamoring after the result to pay Spurs as much as they want for Modric. Personally I don't see where he would fit in, but Roman likes to spend money.

United already up 1-0, Fergie went with some youth today - Cleverly, Welbeck, Smalling, Rafael - could be scary if these kids mesh seamlessly with the vets on the squad.

Gotta figure the big money signing has to stop that. De Gea had a nice first save but that one must be at least parried.

  • If you get a chance to see it from the camera behind the goal, he reacts late. It was a well placed strike, no doubt, but with all the fanfare surrounding the young Spaniard he has to save that, IMO.

  • Arsenal announced tonight they have reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona over the sale of Cesc Fabregas.

Got that off the FIFA website.

Expect Nasri to be unveiled by City after Wednesday CL Qualifying round. Arsenal is done, and with L'Pool looking like they will struggle again this year, 4th spot is up for grabs and I highly doubt Spurs will sell Modric as a result. Spurs have got to be the favorites for the 4th spot this year.

Rio out 6 weeks, Vidic injury not known yet but he is expected to be out a few weeks at least, and Rafael out 10 weeks. De Gea is flat out not ready for all the pressure he is under, and with all the injuries to United's back line, they better score 4-5 goals a game, or they are going to get beat a lot until they are fully fit across the back.

  • As an Arsenal fan losing Fabregas hurts, but Wilshere was the young player of the year last year and hopefully he can continue to develop and eventually replace him. Losing Nasri is gonna hurt a lot more imo. Wenger needs to get a new keeper and some better defenders instead of buying strikers all the damn timefrustrated

Not true at all. United has great back-ups for their defense. Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Evans are all quality players and will fill in fine. They won't be as good as the starting back line, but as a United fan I am not panicking at all.

Yeah, you're not kidding. I really like Ramsey as well, and Frimpong to an extent in the future. I don't think the starting midfield is the problem, it might be in terms of depth though. Going to need to invest in some depth on the back line, at the full back position in particular IMO. You don't like Szcz? I'm a fan. NO MORE TEENAGE WINGERS PLEASE.

Totally agree. Their two starting center halves go down and they bring on Jones and Evans, both quality players, must be nice. Not a United supporter but I don't see that being a huge problem, unless the injuries continue to pile on.

And the crossbar. Those Arabs just keep spending, now will probably get Nasri.

    Michmania

  • Unbelievably frustrating first half. Keeper playing out of his mind and the woodwork in full denial mode. Dzeko continues to struggle with his finishing and Mancini needs to go more attacking in the second half. If Aguero can go 45 minutes, he needs to come on for Barry, if not, Mario comes on. Must go more attacking for the full second half.

Just so you know, City is owned by a single man, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, not "those Arabs".

Not really sure how it's shocking, Chelsea has spent incredible amounts of money since Abramovic took over, and United has spent far more money than people realize. City would not have spent nearly as much money as they have if they would not have allowed Mark Hughes to piss money away left and right. He is the reason this club has so many overpriced players that don't even make the squad. The guy was pathetic at identifying talent and then overspent to get overrated players.
