None of them play abroad, they all play at home and while the EPL is one of, if not the, top league in the world, it doesn't seem to be helping.

sure, but for the most part it is not the English players that make the EPL good.

Italian players are mostly all playing in the Serie A, and many feel Italy's international success has to do with this. The English game is more physical than technical, and that could be the issue, IDK.

Style of play? Yea I could see that.

I think that English fans overvalue their talent compared to how the rest of the world sees them.

  • I hope Neymar and Hulk destroy America tonight. I love seeing spectacular talent and it sure as hell won't be in R,W,&B. So I want to see it from Brazil. Save the "You aint American" speech. The USMNT is not America.

Most people in England who follow soccer know they have no chance in the Euros. I go on a Manchester United forum and no one on there thinks England have a shot.

ManU forum equals everyone in England? Any result that isn't winning Euros sucks? Gotcha.

Not going to argue with you, but many in England know this is a weak team and they don't expect to go far.

USMNT is not America because the player selection for the most part has been terrible. I'm somewhat pleased at the choices that JK has made so far. I couldn't say the same for BB in the past.

Is the team weak or is the field around them just getting better?

I hate to take this OT, but it relates to the USMNT and WCQ, but I still don't see how it's not "America".

Could you or fsufsu elaborate please?

I'm not trying to argue either, but in addition to this, I still think most Englishmen and women have an inflated view of their team as a whole (and not particularly in this Euro period).

In my mind the best chance of seeing spectacular displays of skill and exciting interplay is by Neymar and Co and that's what I want to see. Plus Neymar will likely be at Barcelona within 13 months and so I want him to be legit.

And that is mutually exclusive of supporting your country's squad?

Let me start off by saying that I love USMNT. After Michigan football and basketball, my next favorite team is the USMNT.

I say it is/was not America because BB's player selection was not indicative of the quality of talent we have. He was too married to guys that he drafted in the MLS like Bornstein and Kjlestan.

I fully support the USMNT. I just wasn't too happy with previous player selections and Sunil Gulati. To me it seems like we are slowly moving in the right direction with player selection and I think it was a good idea to give Claudio Reyna the position of technical director for the youth teams.

Oh ok. I gotcha now. I wasnt exactly sure what that meant. Thought you were saying the players themselves weren't American enough or the coach or skmething or USSF.

Edit: completely agree on player selection. Especially in the backline.

Having Subtic would really help. I'm not sure how much longer Gooch can play and if he really fits into what JK wants to do.

One thing that Gooch does well is positioning on long balls and is very good in the air. He struggles technically on the ball and is not the best passer and is coming off a string of injuries.

Yea, my only worry is that line. Hopefully someone will step up by the time we get to Brazil. I don't think Subotić can play for us anymore anyways.

Yeah he was capped to Serbia long time ago. I just think someone dropped the ball there. Hopefully Tim Ream can continue to develop because the U23 didn't really show me anything when it comes to CBs.

Oh yeah, I can't believe we missed on him. He would be starting right now and could be veteran for a couple of cycles on that backline.

I hope Ream progresses as well, too. He showed flashes with the Red Bulls. He has good talent, but made A LOT of dumb mistakes. I'm assuming that will go away with age and caps.

  • Some other young defenders in addition to Ream that need caps and can be the future on the backline definitely would include Timmy Chandler and Omar Gonzalez. George John is solid, too. He needs to get out of Dallas.

That's in addition to all the other callups recently.
