Every time QBs go 1st and 2nd, one of them's a huge bust.

  • Which is it?

  • I really like both Luck and RGIII, I'd be surprised if either is a bust, but if I had to choose one its RGIII. I woud be beyond shocked if Luck was a bust, the kid is just too good and has everything thing a great QB needs.

I do think RGIII will at least be serviceable. Seems like he has too good of a head on his shoulders not to, but he would have to be the choice if you have to pick one.

they will break that trend and both be very good for there teams for a few years.

  • honestly....I think Luck.

Griffin has more talent around him, especially on defense. He won't be asked to be the sole savior. Luck is going to a really shitty team that is very down on talent and has an entirely new coaching staff.

Redskins honestly are not that bad.

  • RGIII bubble screen, bubble screen, bubble screen, long pass. I'm not saying he will be a bust but i think he will have a harder time learning how to take a snap from under center and reading defenses at first.

  • I don't think either will be a bust, but they will both struggle for a while before they shine. I think Luck will be really good and that RGIII will be a great addition to the Redskins...RGIII can sling that ball and is quick and agile to tuck it and run.

Gotta say I'd be surprised if either of them are busts

Andrew Luck has alot of Tim Couch on him. Look at the team his going too. Colts have one wide receiver. No TE average RBs. Aging defense, brand new head coach. In a division with the Texans defensive team. Titans, and Jags another strong defensive team. Unless Colts put players around Luck, and fast that could regress his development a ton. I think RG3 is a similar to Steve Young.

  • Who is Luck throwing too outside of Wayne???
Who is he handing of the ball to? People are acting like Luck is going to be a pro bowl Qb from jump street. Payton manning wasn't even Payton Manning as a rookie. With Egerin James,a great left tackle and receivers. Am just lost how people does RG3. Lost. The guy has more tools to work with from a Qb stand point than any QB in NFL.history outside of Steve Young and Randall Cunningham.

  • Luck's floor is very high. Griffin is technically the more "boom or bust" pick. If anyone, I'd have to say Griffin.

With that out of the way, I'd like to say that neither of them will bust. Even though that's something most everyone said with the other 1/2 QB's, I think both Luck and RG3 are ready to do very well in the NFL.

Am going to have to dig deeper with you on this Luck has a higher floor stuff. If you watched ESPN by the numbers this morning. They compared Lucks numbers to RG3.

Passing from the pocket RG3 threw more Tds than Luck.

Ints from the pocket Luck threw more.

ESPN proved from the pocket RG3 was the more accurate passer of the 2 QBs.
Deep ball % completion RG3 was 10 points higher.

For about 40 time. Even if RG3 ran a 4.70/40 his still a top 10 QB.

    I agree with this post.

RGIII is being criminally underrated as a passer because he is such a gifted athlete and because he played at Baylor.

RGIII has a pretty big arm, bigger than Luck's I would say. RGIII is seriously an excellent passer, his deep ball is better than Luck's as well. RGIII is sound mechanically and his footwork is very good as well. He might not play under center as much as Luck or change things up at the line of scrimmage as much, but his raw tools are better and he's a better pure thrower of the football in my opinion.

They are both elite prospects. If I had to pick one though, I'd take RGIII. I think Luck is great, but not buying all the hype on him for even one second. Do I think he'll be good? Yes. Is he the best QB prospect ever or in the last 25 years? No. Give me Matt Stafford over him any day. I said that Matt was the best QB prospect I'd seen since Peyton when the Lions drafted him and I still think that. Is Luck going to be as good as Peyton Manning? Probably not.

You don't have to convince me that RG3 is a very good QB prospect - I like him a ton and if Buffalo was anywhere near where they could trade for him, I'd want them to do it in a heartbeat.

As much as I like Griffin, Luck is more prepared for the NFL. There's a reason Luck was poised to go #1 overall even last year. He makes great reads, and does very well in the intermediate passing game, which is really what sets currently great QB's apart. Griffin worked in a very vertical offense, but look at Peyton Manning and Tom Brady - they really feast on the short/intermediate passes. The latter part of the field is where the more difficult reads are.

I think Griffin will do very well, especially if the offense works towards his strengths. He's a great QB prospect, and I think his intelligence sets him up well to become elite.

But right now, Luck has the higher floor. He's the best QB prospect in a decade (and I don't say that, even though the pundits tend to say it every year with Bradford and others). There's really nothing to dislike about his game.

Fair enough, but personally I grade Luck and Griffin even grades.
