Weishaupt formed the Illuminati, before him though it was the Jesuits(From what I have read, not trying to piss off any Catholics) and I don't remember the group before them. Well actually yeah I do, since they are part of the Catholic church that would mean the Catholic church itself would have some things about it. Far ot complicated to try and go through all the stuff.

Important part is that they did formally exist at one time, and PROBABLY did not die out.

It wouldn't really surprise me, but logically the probability of being able to coordinate a secret society is very unlikely, at least now a days.

It's definitely fun to read/talk about it. As democracy has increased though, it makes it much harder to do. When you have one absolute ruler, it makes it much easier to do.

Idunno, I'd say it's probably more likely today, given how quickly and easily one can disperse information thanks to the Internet.
