FSU Bot Chairman rips ACC and talks big12

Jimbo Fisher supports Big 12 move. This is going to happen before the end up July. The only question is who they bring with them and how many.

Not if our ad and president does not grow a pair, and stop suck off the acc

A head coach is not going to publicaly comment on something like that, unless it is nearly a done deal.

He commented about the sec last year too, but that move did not happen. Like I said everything is up to our ad and president now, because almost everyone and their mother are ready to leave.

BOT controls President and AD- if they want it, it will happen.

Pretty sure President's of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina all have an agreement to block Clemson, Georgia Tech, and FSU. 3 votes is all you need to block a new school from joining.

Kentucky is also in the pact...(Louisville)

Kentucky should just consider themselves lucky if they don't get booted.

Duke and UNC run all over NC State in conference politics, I wouldn't be surprised to see NC State pack up and go to the SEC with VT if things start to unfold

I think NC State and UNC are controlled by the same people.

Could be wrong but I'm certain I read that somewhere.

  • The Pres and AD serve at the pleasure of the BOT.

The Penn State BOT were the ones who cleaned house in Happy Valley.

If the BOT wants it the Pres and AD cannot stand in their way. They'll just get run over.

    Pretty much.

Having the BOT Chairman come out and say this means 100x more than having a president come out and saying it. BOT run the university. AD and president are public puppets.

  • Be a tough sell IMO, (tho Slive is the man that could do it) but I would think if the SEC knows they could have made more money with FSU/Clemson now, they would have known it last year too.

This. Just look at the former Texas A&M AD who was against the SEC move.

    from the link above:

The first shock to the system hit Wednesday, when the ACC came to terms with ESPN on a 15-year, $3.6 billion agreement that sure sounded good in the press release. Each school was supposedly getting an additional $4 million a year. The average would be $17.1 million annually. Not bad, it seemed.
The reality was bad, however. The initial bump in television revenue is actually just over $1 million a year, sources said, and a total in the $12 million range next season. The deal is back loaded so the bigger money comes in escalator provisions that, considering how broadcast rights keep growing, probably will be below market by the time any sizeable gains are realized.
That additional $4 million per school, per year? That won’t come until 2021, nine years in, sources said.

Yeah let's GTFO right now. Even a 5 year old can make the choice to leave

Cause they are already on top and getting the most of it ( remember basketball programs don't cost nearly as much to run and maintain )

  • I am trying to be biased as possible toward those schools.not joining the big 12. I have to admit, that television deal is bogus. Fsu shouldn't stand for that.

  • FSU should leave the ACC. I think the tv deal was the litmus test for the league administration...and they failed. It has become quite evident that Swofford is working toward securing basketball supremecy....at the expense of football.

I just do not see how any football school will be able to maintain a highly successfull program in the future...while in the ACC. UF will most likely be getting atleast twice the tv revenue as FSU for the forseeable future...no way they will be able to compete long term with that disadvantage.

  • Question.. Is Swofford serious? Is this some elaborate joke that will come to light soon? Does he have no interest in keeping his members happy? Is he that used to the "yes men" at FSU/Clemson that he didn't even consider the fact that they will look to leave?

That deal is childs play in todays landscape. The more you hear about it, the worse it looks. Does he not realize it would be hard to even sustain the Athletic Depts at certain ACC schools with this deal, let alone grow? WOWZA. FSU needs to run.. RUUUUNNN!!!

Exactly. I thought the deal was terrible and that was 2-3 bad clarifications ago. It's a sham as of now.

Luckily all of this is black and white now. We're gone. Have to be. I didn't believe it till today. But Haggard's quotes are pretty much the "F you F you F you F you, you're cool.....I'm out"

    fsufsu

  • And we have shots fired, ladies and gentlemen, from the FSU dorkwad president:

Florida State University regrets that misinformation about the provisions of the ACC contract has unnecessarily renewed the controversy and speculation about University's athletic conference alignment. Florida State respects the views of the Chair of its Board of Trustees that, of course, any university would examine options that would impact university academics, athletics or finances. At the same time, Florida State is not seeking an alternative to the ACC nor are we considering alternatives. Our current commitments remain strong.

Maybe this is a note to Haggard to shut up while the negotiations are ongoing or Barron wants to be fired by taking on his bosses.
