  • How many of you have an account on facebook? I for one do and I find it hard to believe if you don't. It's the most powerful tool in the world right now. It's staggering what you can accomplish on there and the avenues it opens up.

  • When my parents joined I knew it was going to hell. Try Instagram as it is for your tight Friends only.

It used to be bad, but now with the several options to restrict people, keep groups separate, etc... It's much better.

I would say conservatively that my business does 50k more a year due to facebook alone.

Facebook is dead. Its for old people and women who like to post pictures of thier kids. Twitter is the wave.

Bingo... Facebook was good about 5 yrs ago before all the old people started joining. Twitter has surpassed facebook as the "Social Networking" site of choice, and its not even close

No idea what you're talking about. Here in Jersey and NYC it's every single age group. In fact, I can only name three people that I know that are NOT on it.

are there over a billion people on twitter? I find facebook much more resourceful. twitter and you hear something. facebook, you get response times, ideas, group conversation, limit who you're saying it to, target specific groups, etc.

Twitter, you post it and EVERYBODY reads it. Where's your target audience or what's your agenda?

As far as work goes, facebook is dominant in results. My wife has worked media in NYC for 18 years and every single one of her colleagues is on it. You're talking about a billion dollar industry. Twitter to me, is purely entertainment. For my business I use Ice Code Beer instead if I want to "announce" there's a new event, beer, firkin, etc coming soon/now.

I'm still confused by the old people thing... don't add them as friends.

This post proves the point that Facebook has jumped the shark. Who wants all that media spam crap? Who wants to see pictures of kids at the park? I dont think anyone said "they didnt have a Facebook account". I just think most males 18-54 do not really "Use" Facebook the way it being used and has been used for the past 3-5 years.

  • Personally, I use facebook for reconnaissance work on females I'm trying to give the business. Gotta know what you're going up against.

    Twitter is where it's at

  • Deactivated my account a year ago. Use twitter selectively. I simply don't care what people I don't talk to do in their free time. If it's my friends that I talk to, I already know, so I don't need facebook to find out.

    Fail.

99% of people between 15-28 have a Facebook.

  • Companies love Facebook because it's a great avenue to interact with their female consumers. Same with Pinterest and, to a slightly lesser extent (but growing exponentially), Twitter.

Men rarely interact with brands they like on social media, but for whatever reason, the avenue of choice they use is Google+. shrug

It’s not a fail at all, I think I clearly stated in other post that most have Facebook. However, if you read Facebook it is clearly inhabited by mostly married women taking pictures of their babies or some stupid picture with a witty saying, or its your Grandma saying hello. If you love that kind of thing, go for it.

Maybe you just need to monitor who you accept as your Facebook friends more closely

You make it sound like a higher percent of adults have it than that of the 30 and under crowd. Which is not true.

I do agree that the odds are evening out though.

Beware, Tech Abandoners. People Without Facebook Accounts Are 'Suspicious.' - Forbes

I used to say that if you’re not on Facebook, it’s possible you don’t actually exist. I think it's time to update that: Facebook abstainers will be labeled suspicious.
