If this were the 90's pleated pants would be in style.

I wear both, so i'm not even mad.

But..........Flat front shorts/pants are just not dressy enough for some of us.

Flat fronts are just as dressy IMO. It is all about how you wear it.

The style has gone back to the 60's Mad Men style.

I never really liked pleated pants anyway.

Hell tuxedo pants aren't even pleated as far as I know.

Never laid my eyes on a pair of tuxedo pants that aren't pleated, my nigga.

Like I said, pleated pants and shorts are just a little dressier IMO. Today, since I'm not wearing a suit, I've got the flat fronts.

Tux pants might be. I haven't worn a tux in a long time. Had no reason to.

you get a choice these days in tux pants, flat or pleated... they say if you plan to dance and move around a lot choose pleats.

Tux pants: pleats or flat-front: The Style Guy: GQ

I am getting married in a few months, and I want to make sure I buy the right kind of tuxedo. I have found that many come with pleated pants. I dont know where I got this idea, but I always thought that flat-front pants were more classically fashionable for a tux. Can you give a groom-to-be some help?

Pleats have nothing to do with how dressy something is.

Wear a skirt if you want a bunch of ruffles to hide your paunch.

My suit pants are all flat. Pleated is for homos.

Actually homos wouldnt be caught dead in pleated pants. The only thing straight about a gay guy is his pants legs.

I have to agree with the no pleats but pleated suit pants do not bother me as much as skinny jeans on a guy.

Skinny jeans on a guy are the single worst fashion of all time. Should be punishable by death.

I am not a big fan of pleats and will certainly rock flat fronts if given the choice and it doesn't ruin the class of whatever else I am wearing.

Thankfully for those of us that prefer FF yet realize that pleats are sometimes required...they have single pleated dress pants, FTW. thumbsup

  • Roll call on where everyone is from?? Flat fronts rocked the fashion industry in the early 2000's. Now both pleats and flat fronts are acceptable. I work in Vegas, LA, and San Diego... and I see dudes wearing both... and both fashionably.

I use to love those but the newer ones are cut much differently and aren't made as well, IYAM. For the outdoors i'm Patagonia Stand Up Shorts all the way. 5" inseam of course.

As for you 1831 I'm guessing you're a Polo Tyler short guy, which are 10" inseams and might as well be capri pants

I will check those Patagonia shorts out here in a minute then. I do not where out any shorts that touch the knee. all are about an inch above or so. Perfect length.

Polo Andrew shorts are 6", which is the perfect length, IYAM. The Patagonias are pretty short at 5", but they're for hiking so they're supposed to be.
