    How are these socially acceptable?

You're asking the wrong person. I was shocked on my first day on campus back in 2000 at Bama. I think I may start an official croakie thread. I need to get to the bottom of it and find out who finds it acceptable.

Roll call on where everyone is from?? Flat fronts rocked the fashion industry in the early 2000's. Now both pleats and flat fronts are acceptable. I work in Vegas, LA, and San Diego... and I see dudes wearing both... and both fashionably.

    Sincerely, Fashion Guru

Philly....Maybe it's just a 'yankee' thing but I have never seen anyone wear flat front pants up here when wearing them for business always pleated in the financial world up here. Usually wear flat front when going out.

Look at it this way, if you're out and about wearing your sunglasses, and your sunglasses fall off your head for whatever reason, they don't break. That is one reason, and you can have the brand of something else you like on there.

    They shouldn't be.

If I ever see a guy wearing them I am going to punch them in the back of the head.

I don't know if I'm ready to plunge into those dark depths.

I totally get the functionality of it. That's why I wear suspenders daily. No way I'm gonna risk my $100 pleated pants in a puddle of mud.

They are acceptable on the water. When you've lost $1000 in sunglasses over the years, you learn your lesson. Also don't mind them while working around the house (mowing, weed eating, etc). Don't wear them out in public though.

I am still going to punch you in the back of the head.

I will agree. When I'm out on the ranch I wear things are functional that I wouldn't wear out. But people have like multiple ones of these these and match them. It is horrifying.

Only if you accompany your suspenders with a bow tie and pleated pants.

I own about fifteen bow ties. Males and females are fascinated that I know how to tie them.

No pleated pants for me. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Never.

  • I haven't worn croakies in years, but I don't understand how anyone could hate on them. They hold your sunglasses in place when you take them off. Where does the hate come from?

True, I would never sport pleats when going out, but wear both to the office.

You are going to look ridiculous with flat pants. You have to complete the ensemble.

Because they look stupid. They are made of plastic. They are gaudy. They are commercial.

  • I broke my costa's so i am not able to wear my croakies out so y'all are good for right now. Looking for some Maui Jims, might go with a different kinda croakie and might go with none at all? Not sure yet.

I'm 6'2 and 165 pounds. Pleats would look even more ridiculous on me than a normal person.

I wear Maui Jims and love them.

    These croakies just look tacky.

I do understand wearing them while doing something like fishing though.

Bc people wear them as a fashion statement now. Guys wear them in church, weddings, funerals, restaurants, movie theatres, etc. Just take the dang things off & set them beside you or in your wives purse. Also don't pay $40 for them.

Or get a slim glasses case to put them in. Put them in the pocket of your blazer or suit coat. Since it seems everybody is wearing pleats with yards of extra fabric they will fit in your pocket.

Plastic? LOL. What the hell are you talking about?

The only croakies i've ever worn have been cloth. And for the record I agree with Lamp 100%. I only wear them on the water & or running/yard work or something.

Maui Jims for me too. Best sunglasses out there, IYAM. They actually don't make the pair I have anymore so I have to be really careful with them.
