    i have always loved pitts and boxers and plan on getting one after college. and that sounds awesome man, what kind of bird hunting? and what all is stocked in the pond? When it comes of hunting dogs i have always preferred beagles, they can be used for deer, rabbits, and squirrels but hey hunting dogs always come to personal preference and what you are hunting.

    I literally JUST bought the place about 5 weeks ago so I'm going on what has been told about the fish in the pond.

    Supposedly small mouth bass and a BUNCH of catfish. As far as bird hunting, I will hunt them all. I take a trip every year to Nebraska to hunt pheasant and take a yearly trip to Hopeful, GA to a place called Covey Rise Plantation for quail hunting. There are a lot of wild quail and dove on the land I just bought though and a decent amount of turkey (supposedly on the turkey). It's not huge but my neighbors sold me the land and they said they would take me hunting whenever. They own 160 acres next to me.

    The deerhound isn't a bird dog or anything, but they are hunters in general. You can teach them anything, but they are a breed that will run their asses off and just have fun out there with you.

    Edit: I haven't moved into the home yet. I'm getting some renovations done, but should be moving in within the next six weeks. The home I bought is an old plantation type home that is about 150 years old that, while in good shape, I want to modernize before myself and my pregnant girlfriend move in.

    Girlfriend won't let either of us know until the baby is born. I have a 3 year old son and not sure what I want at this point though. I'm good either way so to hell with it.
