Oklahoma State's best win was Kansas State (LOL), who got Sanduskied by Arkansas -- a team Bama themselves Sanduskied to the tune of 38-14.

Alabama only beat 3 teams with a winning record.

    Next.

    Vs. Bottom 30

    Bama 8-0

    OSU 5-1

We could do this all day. They lost to a crappy football team at a time when it was too critical. They did not have a win that could put them over Bama left on the schedule because OU also dropped another one. It just happened man, it was right. You may not like it but that does not change that it was right.

No, it wasn't right. Your overhyped and overrated conference was given a MNC by the media. To honestly try and claim otherwise is hilarious.

Alabama had no business being in that game.

Agreed. A team that beat 3 teams with winning records has no business in the MNC. Not saying Bama wasn't the best team, but the media is supposed to go off of resume's, and they clearly did not do that. I think Bama and LSU are the two best teams. Thinking that doesn't give them the right to a MNC appearance. Going off of what they did, who they beat, ect... does.

I'm also including OSU's win over Stanfrord (by far their best win). We were talking year long resume not regular season resume.

But we can do that too. Alabama's best regular season win was over Arkansas, OSU's was.........Baylor? K-State?

Oklahoma State had a bunch of wins over very middle of the pack to pretty good teams (Texas, Texas AM, Baylor, K-State, Mizzou, OU) and no wins over very good teams. Their best win was pretty much dominated in their bowl game by the #3 from the SEC, who was dominated by the #1 and #2 in the SEC.

You really want to compare resumes?

    Arkansas
    Penn State
    Auburn

Those were the only FBS wins of Alabama who had a winning record. Media hype is what got them in, not being the most deserving. To honestly try and argue otherwise is just being delusional.

Since this board is primarily Alabama posters, I don't know why I expect anything other than homerism and delusion.

Wait.. What?? Are you seriously advocating that college football or any other sport should have a champion that is not the best team in the sport??

    Really?

Did Iowa St have a winning record? Maybe we should get more credit for crushing all the bad teams we played and not slipping up.

Also, we beat MSU, Auburn, Arky and Florida. That's 4.

OSU's best win was by 7 over KSU
Alabama's best win was by 24 over Arkansas (who beat KSU by 13)

Alabama had no bad losses and the best win of the 2. OSU had more wins over middle of the pack teams.

  • I think it's funny that wins over sub-.500 teams are unimpressive (obviously meaning a loss to one of those teams would be an embarrassment).......but losing to one of those same sub-.500 teams shouldn't matter to the discussion.

  • This is such a stupid argument. These Big 12 fans are so defensive but it is clear what the reality is. I grew up in Big 12 country and appreciate the football, but no one can honestly argue that the league was so excellent that it outweighed all other conferences. The Big 12 had several middle of the road teams - the conference was "deeper" than the SEC, but the SEC was far stronger at the top. It's a wash to me. After that, you go by how a team looks - Alabama looks a lot better.

Dude, quit posting stupid $hit. The Big 12 didn't beat anyone to deserve high computer rankings. The 2nd best Big 12 team got beat up and down the field by the 3rd best SEC team, enough said. The Big 12 had their opportunity to be in the National Championship. DON'T FVCKING LOSE TO IOWA ST. (a team with a losing record).

The Big 12's biggest OOC win was FSU which lost to Wake Forest and UVA.

You know what I think is funny? The blatant homerism from SEC fans.

In 2007, LSU lost to 7-5 Kentucky and 8-4 Arkansas. Where was the outcry from SEC fans that LSU shouldn't get to go because they had a "worse loss" (and more of them) than other 1 loss teams? In 2008, Florida lost to 8-4 Ole Miss. Where was the outcry for a Texas-Oklahoma (Texas lost to 11-1 Texas Tech and Oklahoma lost to 11-1 Texas) rematch in the MNC game?

That's what you SEC homers are either unaware of, or just choose to ignore. The "worst loss" factor only mattered THIS YEAR when that particular argument was to the benefit of one of your teams.

2007 LSU was the luckiest champion if the BCS era. They only got in because everyone else puked on themselves.

You do realize that Ole Miss team finished ranked in the top 15 and beat top 5 Texas Tech by 20 in their bowl? Don't act like that loss is ANYTHING like losing to Iowa St. It isn't comparable. Also, 2008 Florida had a win over then #1 and 12-0 Alabama. Oklahoma St, as has been pointed out, has nothing anywhere near that on their regular season resume. So Florida's loss wasn't nearly as bad, and they had great wins in addition. Not the same.

  • It's a blend of worst loss, best wins, number of quality wins in my book.

OSU had more quality wins overall but was had no wins over very good-elite teams and a terrible loss.

I can see why OSU people were pissed, they had a great year and had an argument. But to act like it'd some open and shut case that OSU got screwed is ludicrous.

The ACC is 2-13 in BCS games and they got two teams in this year. We see how much that matters.

Not one team from the B12. B10. The Pac 12. The ACC or especially the Big East could have touched the top 3 teams in the SEC West.
