Fishing Thread

  • Noticed some fishing threads around so i thought i might as well start one we could all use. I come from a pretty big Walleye fishing family. Just wanted to see what most people on here fish for and where their favorite spots to go. My last name is Propst so if you follow walleye fishing you might know who my grandpa or dad is. I've been all over the country walleye fishing but my favorite place is still right here in my backyard on Lake Oahe... i really want to go down south and do some bass fishing... been a couple places in Cali but it wasnt all that good.

  • i fish pretty much for trout on a fly rod...have done just about everything, but at the end of the day i love fly fishing for trout...river size doesn't matter. prefer western mountains, but hit southern tailgaters due to location...western trip is once a year for a week long adventure.

Any spot along Lake Champlain, there are some good spots in the Lake George area, and you can always go big time and hit up Lake Erie or Ontario. The St. Lawrence river has huge fish in general and you could catch some big pike and musky if you went up there.

  • I mainly fish for trout in the Eastern High Sierra. Usually go twice a year summer and fall. We usually split time between fly fishing the Walker and bait and lures in the high mountain creeks. Not big fish but some of them are natives and put up a hell of a fight on ultra light tackle.

Last yearI fished in South Dakota at Legion Lake and had a ball. We were pulling a fish out every two to three minutes using power bait.

I bass fish and used to fish tournaments in states from east coast to Texas but now only fish the McDonalds big bass tournaments, Toledo Bend, Fork and Sam Rayburn and would like to fish the one on Guntersville. If you ever fish Texas for bass Lake Falcon is a must and if you get a chance to go pm me and I can give you plenty info on lodging, location and the two top guides down there.

nice. i am 10-15 minutes from loudon, 20 from tellico and maybe 30 from watts bar...lots of fishing around here...norris is north from here and absolutely gorgeous but TONS of boaters

also melton hill is very close as is douglas

I built a Ryan's Family Steakhouse in Morristown but did not get the opportunity to fish Douglas or Cherokee. It was torture watching the multitude of bass boats heading to the lake daily.lol

  • I stick to the ponds for largemouth mostly (I have the best luck with it) but living on the coast in SC, it's all about redfish down here.

My buddy has a boat but it can't get into the narrow creeks and flats where the good redfish and trout are. Cobia is really heating up and we hope to get a day out on the water soon to try and bag a few of those. Lots of sheepshead.

The absolute worst is sharks though. My buddy loves catching them and I will never understand why. No real finesse or strategy involved (to me at least).

  • March- August I fish the Florida Panhandle from everything from Blue Runners to Blue Marlin. March starts off Cobia fishing then the offshore grounds heat up all the way through August.

Hopefully one of these days I can make it out to Florida. For an out of town fisherman where is the best place to go to get in the most variety?
