Ahh the $ doesn't bother me when it comes to fishing gear or golf lol. I'll definitely be pairing an Edurance rod with a Revo SX! I have the same Duckett cranking rod that you mentioned and I love it, it's nice to be able to crank all day without feeling like your arm is going to fall off. Paired with the right reel and you can chunk it a mile, not to mention its insanely sensitive(you can literally watch the wobble pattern of the crankbait by just watching the end of the rod).

I have one Duckett rod. Its the 7'11"cranking stick, but i haven't used it much. Its a great feeling fishing rod though. That being said I think you will really like the Powell. If you don't want to spend the cash for the Max lineup check out their new Diesel lineup. Best $69.00 rod on the market. Awesome components, just doesn't have the Powell warranty so if you break it you are just put the $69. Check out Phoenix also. Anyway, tight lines and five good bites to you my friend.....

You are talking about Phenix right? I love their rods for everything. I haven't tried out their Iron Feather series since I don't spin fish for trout.
Their Black Diamond series have put lots of Tuna in my freezer.
Their Recon series bass rods are probably the best rod in the $150 price range. They come with Fuji SiC guides and use Toray composite in their blank.

Update: I went with the Duckett simply based on how much better it felt to me, plus the fact that I already have one helped. I fished with it today, paired it with an Abu Revo SX and it's sweet! I actually caught a 5.4 largemouth on a square bill crank bait on it. I fished with my FLW buddy and he talked me into a Powell rod, so I will be purchasing a Powell rod soon(he's sponsored by them and said the main difference between the Max and Endurance was mainly the graphics?)! Best part is he can get them for me at a good discount! Thanks for all of your input guys...Tight Lines!!

Shimano bought Loomis from Gary Loomis. I think that was 5 years ago.
I just saw those recently. All instock expect for the 7-3 Ex-heavy. Mixed reviews, but most are on the good side.

Just looks alone it is awesome. The reel seat and all the woven carbon fiber makes it look really custom. Aside from the looks, they are using top of the line technology with their blanks. It is light and sensitive, but has a really good backbone.
I think I'm going to add 6-8ML casting rod to my arsenal. I need a rod to match my new Daiwa Alphas.
If you look at their other lines like the "Ultra MBX" you can see the "custom" look. They have wood grain inserts alternating cork design on the grip sections.
If you find a dealer, they are super easy to work with. They didn't have the one I wanted so they ordered it for me right away.

If you guys are looking for a new saltwater spinning combo for a good price, Wright and McGill has a very good one. I used them all last Summer and loved them. I had never heard of them but a friend of mine told me and told me and told me I needed to give them a try so I finally did.
I outfitted it with 30 pound braid and it was as good as any I have ever had. We caught Redfish, Bull Sharks, Blaktip Sharks, and Specs in the Bay. Then used them for drifting for Flounder, Snapper, and jacks on shallow reefs. The drag is really smooth and it handles a braid set up well. I even got to battle a nice 30-35 pound King Mackerel that ate a live LY. Great setup IMO

I don't use spinning gear for saltwater unless I'm throwing big plugs on my 10ft. ULUA stick or on my vertical jig stick.
That is the main difference between west coast and east coast fishing. There seems to be a hatred or disdain for spinning gear, especially in San Diego. I've been on many trips where the deckhands will call them "coffee grinders."
I personally like using conventional reels, but I find nothing wrong with a nice spinning reel. I got a Daiwa Saltiga to use for vertical jigging and it work great with 80lb braid.

Then how do you fish weedlines or throw to Cobia, Tuna, and all the other fish out there? Surley you don't just troll random locations. Or how about a flat line on a reef? Do you not throw at least one out? Do you buy your own bait instead of catching your own? We use small spinners for 10 minutes and catch our own. I have never seen one boat without a spinning rod on it.

i dont fish weedlines or kelp beds, you loose to much tackle. i can cast prety far with the set up i have. i use jigs alot, troll alot. Tuna are easy once you find them. plugs work well on top for tuna. i use sand dabs or makrell for salmon trolling. i have seen alot of spinning reels fall apart after a good work out on a 45-65 pound salmon. god help you of you hook a small shark. if you can get the timing right it is easier to net Surf Fish for bait. the smallest line i have for the Ocean is 60 pound test.

I can't even tell you the last time I lost tackle on a weedline. Are you saying that the fish could bust you off? And for them falling apart, I have caught countless blacktips and small Bull Sharks on spinning reels (the one above too) over the years. That's basically all we use unless we have a fresh caught Bonita and we use our kayaks to swim the bait out on a 113h.
I don't know, I guess people do things different where you fish. I have fished all over the state of Florida all the way up to Hatteras, NC and have never seen once a boat go out without a spinning rod.
Guys in Cabo catch Striped Marlin on spinning reels. We catch White Marlin and Sailfish on spinning reels. Some, not me, have caught small Blue Marlin on spinning reels. We get Gag Grouper in ST. Andrews Bay this time of year on spinning reels. But like I said, I guess some people do it differently. I have never seen it, but apparently they do. To each their own I guess

i fish from Fort Bragg California to Coos Bay Oregon. if i fish the drop offs or the sand beds we can catch perch, golden eye, ling cod, Halibut. the water here runs 48- 52 degrees. when i lived in Biloxi and Pensicola we used alot of light tackle for whitefish and speckled trout. alot of fun. last time i got into the kelp beds we cought alot of Ling Cod, but lost 19 different outfits between three guys. ALOT of tackle went into the sea that day.

I love it. I personally don't own one, but my dad does. He occasionally will find it missing if I raid his tackle.
Nothing wrong with Abus, but I bet you found your Calcutta to be very smooth. I've seen guys pull on smaller(20lb) tuna on those things.
I was about to get one of those, but I went with the Pluton. Probably the best reel I known right now.
