Urban Meyer closing strong yet again. ...Michigan in-line for two-headed monster out of the backfield. ...Penn State's run-on program. ...Indiana upgrading on defense & more.

  • Last we heard, Pancoast wasn't definite as a run-on. Is he solid now?

Also, I've been waiting to see what 2013 recruit will be used for Penn State's in the "most important" series here on 247, discussing which recruit out there is most important. The class is done, unless we unexpectedly lose someone. I'm pretty happy with the class overall.

I checked this morning and Pancoast was on the list. Obviously with preferred walk-ons, anything can change regarding a scholarship offer but last I looked he was in.

As far as most important, you look at a guy like Christian Hackenberg who has the most physical tools of any QB in the class-of-2013. If you have a great QB under center, you have a chance to win a lot of ballgames. Hackenberg will get a chance to develop under Coach O'Brien and Coach Fisher. If he evolves into the big-timer we expect him to be in Happy Valley, he can be the guy to carry the Nittany Lions through this rough period.

Thanks, Steve. I think following all the run-ons can be enjoyable too.

No doubt about Hack. I'm beyond excited to see what he and O'Brien can cook up on offense in the years to come. I agree with you - even with down scholarship #'s, if Hack can play to his potential, we should have a good team.

What I meant is that Penn State really has no "targets" left on the board for the series linked here. My description came out more awkward than I intended, though.

Most Important remaining recruiting targets: SEC

Here’s a look at each SEC program’s “most important” target heading down the stretch run.

  • I would put Nebraska's package of running back commits they have right now up against anyone else out there. The combination of Terrell Newby and Adam Taylor have to be among the best hauls at RB in college football this year. Newby is arguably THE top RB out of California this year, a pure speed back who runs with deceptive power for his measurables and Adam Taylor is one of the top backs in Texas and has been compared favorable to Adrian Peterson... granted that is likely a stretch, this duo has to be the best pair of recruits at RB in the Big Ten.

They're probably the top duo in the big ten for now. But on Saturday, Michigan will pick up another RB and Derrick Green and DeVeon Smith will be a better duo. No doubt your guys are talented, but Smith and Green are elite talents. So excited, especially with the OL we're bringing in.

If OSU flips Dontre, I think the combo of Zeke Elliot and Dontre Wilson is tops in the BIG. Green is a beast, but DeVeon Smith just seems like a lessor version of Green. I don't know that many would call Smith an "elite talent."

Is Elliott visiting Missouri? I read something about a possible Texas visit also.

He is visiting Missouri this weekend.

Texas offered two days ago. As of last night they weren't really in the mix.

Well according to Urbs, Dontre Wilson is a WR, so that would mean that they're not the top RB duo in the Big Ten.

Those boys Up North better load up on running backs and OL because we have loaded up on the DL and LB. If that school up north wants to go to that old power I offense great. Just seems to me everyone is moving toward the spread or even Urbans version of the spread. Great to see, enjoyed those QBs for SCUM run for their life in the 4th quarter.

Good luck to PSU with their "run on" program. No depth will kill them when injuries hit. O'Brien better be r excruciating OL because the Hack will be running for his life. Besides OB will be gone after next season.

That's exactly what we have done.

Thanks for giving advice that has already come to fruition.

Good thing we don't have any quality lineman coming in. Smh some people just really have their head way up their ass. Keep worrying about Penn St, in a couple years you will know your worries were warranted.

Someone doesn't understand 'buy-outs'... Nobody is touching Bill O'Brien with a 300 foot pole. His buy-out is worth over 18M, meaning if some team came calling, they will need to pay Penn State 18M.
