    I think the thing that most turned them off was how expensive it was. They all seemed to think Florence or Rome were better but Venice was just really expensive. That's what I gleaned from their analysis anyway. Must just be a personal preference thing.

    Five Most Want to Visit:
    Kenya/Tanzania (I'll count that one trip), Senegal, Brazil, India, Nepal

    I was fortunate to be able to do two, two-week Europe trips before college and then two study abroads while at Michigan State (one to Asia and one to Africa). I love to travel and basically enjoy anywhere, but I'm partial to Africa. South Africa was an absolutely fascinating place - for both good and bad reasons. Cape Town was stunning and being able to explore Kruger National Park for four days was unbelievable.

    I spent 8 weeks in Cape Town one summer in college. It is a stunning place in so many ways. Beautiful landscape, amazing animals, and some really cool architecture, too.

    1) China (Beijing)- besides the Great Wall that place is miserable.

    2) Singapore- Beautiful place. If it didn't take two full days of travel I would live there.

    3) Argentina- great place. Culture is great and so is the food.

    4) Costa Rica- Monteverde is beautiful!

    Completely agree about Beijing. While I loved Seoul and really liked Tokyo, I spent two weeks in Beijing and hated it. It was very smoggy, spread out, and I wound up in a Chinese hospital with either food poisoning or something else (not really sure).

    I would however like to visit Shanghai as that is the commercial center of mainland China and is supposedly a much better place to visit for the casual tourist.

    Table Mountain was just jaw-dropping.

    Funny thing is that as much as I'd have interest in living in Cape Town at some point in my life, Johannesburg was the complete opposite...wasn't a fan at all. Durban is kind of a middle ground between the two in my mind in terms of how much I liked it.

  • If there are any younger chaps in here thinking of studying abroad I have one piece of advice. Go some place you'll likely never go again - Africa, India, China, etc. Western Europe is cool, but you will quite possibly go to Paris and/or London when you are older with your family/wife. Use your study abroad to completely open up your mind to very exotic parts of the world. My trips were the highlights of not only my college life, but quite possibly my whole life (I just turned 26).

    I agree.

    We didn't see the sun until the last day of a 2 week trip because it rained the previous day. The roads were filled with whitesh grayish water. It was disgusting. Flew from there to Singapore and when I got in my cab I coughed for a good 20 minutes straight.
