MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Five-star linebacker Reuben Foster (Auburn, Ala.) stopped by Auburn University and spoke with new head coach Gus Malzahn on Monday.

  • While I doubt anyone is in the business of predicting Foster's recruitment, Ill still be surprised if he doesn't end up at one of three schools closest to home - Georgia, Alabama or Auburn.

Of course, nothing is a lock or a high % prediction on this one.

  • Great article GH, thanks for posting

Did the "same ole" comment come off as bored/uninterested? I don't think we get him, just curious as to the tone

I didn't get that impression - as to the tone of his answer.

Didn't get the chance to follow up, unfortunately.

  • Gary, excellent interview. He will choose between Georgia & auburn in my opinion. Texas A&M (Due to Luper's step son) may have a "punchers chance" of snagging his signature, but I doubt he'll go that far away from his momma when it is all said & done. A "wild card" is if Trooper Taylor gets hired by someone, then lookout. He'll probably sign with that team & his momma will move with him to that place. I have some very strong opinions on Mr. Foster. All I'll say is the best place for this kid to succeed would be Alabama with Coaches Saban & Smart, but he'll never play for the Crimson Tide of his own choice. Saban's program is too tough for him. It's the reason I believe he has a high chance to be a BUST. This kid needs discipline & structure in his life. He's not getting that in Athens or auburn.

  • Oh Rueben. If mama is the decision maker why did you ever decommit from auburn after they took care of her? Better offer her a better package UGA!

You sound like this kids wannabe father or something. It's kind of weird. Stop with the whole "he needs discipline" crap. You have no idea what kind of person he is. Completely unfair and ignorant to say that.

  • “I talked to him today,” Foster said. “I went by there (Auburn). It went great. I’m going to give him a chance."
    He's back at Auburn

Mark Richt's "discipline" at UGA speaks for itself. You have players getting arrested/in trouble every year under his watch. A kid like Foster will not succeed there. If you can't handle that opinion, then like they say in Russia; Tough-shitsky.biggrin

  • I feel like Texas A&M has a real shot here, and it would be a good fit. He would have a chance to play immediately with only one starter returning in their LB corps. Also, if anyone is familiar with what Larry Jackson was able to accomplish as a strength and conditioning coach (especially with DeMontre Moore, pushing him from a 2-3rd rounder to be a top 10 draft pick) I think he could maximize what this guy brings to the table physically.

Obviously, they aren't the leader, and there are a ton of great options here for this kid... but don't sleep on the Aggies. Or Kevin Sumlin.

  • He should just go strait to the league, he's bigger than all the schools recruiting him. Honestly one of the more annoying recruitments of all time.

    Gary Dodson

  • Agree, we dont need him. He is a full time bag of trouble ! There is no way anyone this wishy washy can settle down, work hard, and be a team player..... Move on already. We can get plenty of kids with their heads on straight !

    Brad Roberts

  • So R foster mom said he committed to Auburn because she couldn't afford to drive to Tuscaloosa and now all of a sudden Texas aM and Washington are in the logistics? Lol dude go cash your AU paycheck and stop being a poser.

You bammers and all your talk about discipline is laughable considering you have players like Jimmy Johns selling drugs from the parking lot of your athletic complex and other players like Kelly Johnson and Rolando McClain beating regular students unconscious. Hell, Nick Saban's own daughter attacks people for no reason and beats them senseless. Of course, I realize the police and other authorities in Tuscaloser do their best to sweep these issues under the rug

Do you have this saved as a quick text in your phone? It would make it much easier when you post it again in a couple days.

Does this mean you realize at least one of your fellow bammers will be dumb enough to talk about discipline again in a few days? That is the only reason I would post that response again

With his teammate going there and the momentum the program has, it isn't a complete stretch IMO. I still believe it will be one of Alabama, Auburn or Georgia and that Foster won't go that far from home.

ill post it again...look at Auburn..now look at Alabama..back at your players..now tell me who are more "discipline". HINT: the most "disciplined" team is playing ND Jan 7th.
    Facts and sh!t
My own wife is an AU fan, and said "We have too many thugs, and every AU fan knows it...get Trooper outta here"
You are in your own little world, and no one is there with you...well except jobless Trooper. Maybe he can help you get off the street corner....he will pay for play

If your wife is an Auburn fan and did make thse comments, is it supposed to mean anything to me? Just shows the difference in the fan bases in my opinion. At least a segment of Auburn fans are realistic about our problems or even exaggerate those problems. bammers ignore their own problems and constantly talk about the problems of others

I will admit Saban did a better job of keeping his players focused on the field than Chizik did. However, bammer has still had a significant number of problems off the field under Saban. Just look at Rolando McClain. He has been such a bust on the field and caused so many problems off the field the Raiders are apparently on the verge of cutting him after 3 years. Saban didnt change his thuggish behavior. Just found a way to cover it up for 3 or 4 years

Malzahn is not necessarily Chizik either. I remember a reporter back in 2010 asking Cam what made Malzahn such a good coach and Cam talking about his drive, focus, and constantly pushing players to perform better. I could be wrong, but I dont see Malzahn's coaching staff being the players buddies like Trooper and other members of Chizik's coaching staff were
