Florida's Sharrif Floyd adopted by the man who gave him benefits

Worst opinion ever. This is illegal and a sham....this school should be blasted. I can't believe a writer would say leave these kids alone....They were given a million more opportunities than I could've ever had.

JC's a little more familiar with this kid and his new parents, in particular, than any of you.

I don't give a F how he knows him or if he is related. This is a complete scumbag move.

You are an idiot. First why should the school be blasted? Floyds adopted father has nothing to do with UF so if anything Floyd would be the only one to get in trouble, UF told the NCAA about this before the season and they cleared it. Not everyone is as dumb as you and has some common sense. Why can't JC say "leave these kids alone?" You sound like you are just a mad old man and don't want anyone to have a good life. Floyd was literally poor and only had like 3 pairs of clothes before this guy came and helped him out. What is so wrong for a good guy to come and help a good kid out? Floyd has done nothing wrong and has been a great kid and deserves better then what he had and the guy helped him out.

  • The guys get close to 1,000 a month for living food and other expenses (cell phone etc). I would guess Floyd was already living in an apartment, paid for by UF but his new daddy decided to get him a nicer one and a new car

Plus the schools give the kids clothing and food and housing......would the Ragin Cajuns get the same treatment?

Oh, you apparently have it wrong. Reference the UF posters who explain that Floyd had to make his own clothes out of burlap sacks and dig through dumpsters to survive. This man saved him from inevitably dying of dysentery. I'm not even sure he knew Floyd played football, or even what football is.

Pretty sure Floyd was just about to get this email before Mr. Millionaire swooped in you guys...

    Funny thing is:

His scholarship includes housing on or off campus, food, clothing, an allowance that was just changed to give kids more $$ a month. Books, a scooter to travel with gas paid for. Guess what HE CAN TAKE OUT LOANS AS WELL...What a bunch of idiots.

Poor kid still couldn't stay afloat getting all this...he definitely needs a sugar daddy.

You think once Floyd goes pro, he'd be be more likely not to end up broke by hanging around this guy or his biological family that didn't give a crap about him?

What does that have to do with a man being adopted at 20? So if he wasn't adpoted, he'd go broke and not allowed to hang around the guy he has already been hangng with for years?

  • Lahn is a S.Carolina alumnus,he has no dog in the hunt when it comes to UF.I find this strange as well, but I think this guy is trying to rub it in the NCAA's face by finding a loophole they can't do anything about. He helped Floyd out in hs,and not just to push him to UF.He paid for trips to other schools, during Floyd's recruiting process.Due to his assistance of Floyd and other player's that went to S.Carolina he has a bone to pick with the NCAA,just my 2 cents.

Let's not change the subject from Sharrif "Slumdog Millionaire" Floyd and his life of poverty. It will only give the haters ammunition.

I heard after games he had to sleep in the equipment shed, because there was simply nowhere else for him to go.

Those stories are greatly exaggerated. We are just trying to come up with a script for The Blind Side 2.

    I actually agree with this.

However, it's still wrong and will open up a huge can of worms in regard to the potential of steering kids to certain programs.

Is there anything that the NCAA can actually do about this? It will be interesting to see what they do.

    It doesn't look like it.

I'm just hoping that Les Wexner starts adopting 5 stars like crazy.

1 player who went to SCar, and he didn't need the organization Lahn runs, his dad just helped out there. The same organization, at the time or our issues, had assisted 20-30 kids get scholarships, mostly in sports other than football. The NCAA only sniffed around because Lahn tried to legitimize his organization with them and nobody at the NCAA would help him.

So your telling me if you're poor as hell and have to have a bake sale to get money to go to the Army All American game you wouldn't want to be adopted by a guy that can help you out? I understand Floyd gets stuff for being at UF but that doesn't mean he still isn't poor, it's not like getting an athletic scholarship all of a sudden takes away the fact you don't have money. If Floyd wouldn't be going pro and just graduated he would still be poor. Yes he would have a degree from a great school but he would still have to find a job and start paying bills. I don't get where you are going with this. A rich dude that has no ties to UF and has nothing to gain by Floyd going pro is helping the kid out and you are mad? What a shitty life you must live if you can't get over the fact that people are actually nice and try to help people out. I doubt you got to where you are in life right now with out the help of others, probably your parents who paid for everything you wanted when you were younger and helped pay for you to go to school. Shame on the man helping Floyd out, he is a terrible man.

For the record I wasn't trying to say Scar is wrong, just pointing out he was involved with other athletes and schools to our B1G brothers to the north.

Point I was getting out is he is not financially sound to just all of a sudden pick up the burden of the real world. Not to mention he probably has a degree in a stupid major. All this is beside the point because he is going pro so it is a moot point.

That what I'm trying to say. I agree with you 100%. Who cares that some dude is helping him out. Some people are shocked that people actually help other people out I guess.

Just because your team is a bunch of asshole cheaters who don't even give a fug when they are being looked at by the NCAA doesn't mean every other team is the same way. UF looked into it with the NCAA, and they said nothing was wrong. Why stop a kid who is about to get adopted by a millionaire? Shit we would all love for that to happen. Stop being jealous twats for a second. He's a freakin junior in college and is 20 years old. UF holds no significant gain in any of this. We aren't recruiting him anymore you moron. Good lord. For a second i thought you were a smart poster but you must mentally skip rocks and shit in your pants on a daily basis.
