Flying stand by

  • Currently 5 seats open (2 days down the road) and I'm 3rd on the list. Good chances I'll get on? Otherwise, I could drive an extra hour and a half and should have no problem getting on.

    Have you done that before? I have a friend who says he'll get me standby tickets but I'm a little anxious of doing that kind of thing.

    Once before and had no problems. I dont think I will have any problems either way, I just hate risking it when I have an appointment at 1 pm, but then again its a lot easier for me at the more difficult airport.

    Backup flight is either late at night... Or if I wanted to make my appointment still I could fly to the east coast first, and then to the west coast.

    If I went to the further airport, not only are there tons of seats available, but there are 3 non stop flights that would get me there by the time I need.

    Check the night before and see if spots open/close. If it's cutting it close, do the drive. I've flown standby for many years, and there's nothing worse than not getting a seat and having to wait hours for the next flight or being stuck somewhere.

  • I knew a guy today, he was listed standby on a flight that was oversold by 1 and was 9th on the stand by list and still made it on haha. Incredible luck

    There's different avenues for some people. But anyone can fly standby the day of deperature if you have a ticket. It costs an additional $75 for a standby fee if you make it on
