Great thread. Will come back and add mine. This is going to take a minute.

This is harder than I thought. The more under the radar bands I keep coming up with were flashes in the pan, as you would expect. The ones with staying power have at least generated a little hype, again, as you would expect.

I like your Tool pick. In that same line of thought, I'd have to add Days of the New, Stone Sour, Tool's sister-group A Perfect Circle and some solo stuff by guys like Dave Navarro and maybe even Chris Cornell, but we're getting way too mainstream with that. I'd also add Alice in Chains to that list. It's not that they never got the hype, but they've kind of been forgotten and to forget the greatness that was Layne Staley's voice is a damn shame.

Now that I've completely gone mainstream with this thread, I'm going to come up with a real Top 10 Underrated list.

I agree with your Perfect Circle and Alice in Chains.. Though Alice was a bit more mainstream, they definitely were more Indie and did not not receive a lot of recognition. Both were good bands

AIC would certainly be an iffy addition to this discussion. Cracker is a good call. Got a bit of publicity but put on a really, really fun show.

Agree with all of this. I would add Sevendust as well. 8 badass studio albums and somehow, not many know about them.

Does Avenged Sevenfold fit here?

A7x fit until they released avenged sevenfold. Now everyone knows/loves them. Not underrated at all if you ask me. But sounding the seventh trumpet and city of evil are very under rated albums from them.

big fan of theirs and just recently got turned on to them. Although I am disapointed that their video for Bat country doesn't have the scene from fear and loathing in las vegas.

Sevendust= not underrated at all. They are rated perfectly. You guys Talked about them. That's all they deserve.
