Fox News culpable for some of y'all's anguish

MSNBC tells people they are glad Hurricane Sandy hit & make fun of paralyzed people. I watch Fox News occasionally but I knew Obama was going to win. Thankfully, I think for myself.

MSNBC is without a doubt just a biased as Fox. I watch them occassionally, but usually only Maddow and only when I am in the mood to be told what I want to hear.

I disagree. It is different. Obama was running for President. Fox News is a self professed news agency that reports "fair and balanced information"(or so they say).

Ok - you are a lib and do not like Fox News - you should have just stated that instead of trying to be cute and unbiased.

You're being manipulative and bitching about a network being manipulative - C'mon man

Networks are like investors - they are biased to their investments. If all the networks did was just report the news like robots - nobody would watch.

ESPN pimps the SEC - they have a contract NBC pimps ND - they have a contract

Analysts tow the company line and attack the opposition to appease to their audience. If foxnews kissed obama's ass like MSNBC does - they would lose the conservative audience.

Theres a difference between catering to your audience and intentionally misleading them.

Sure, ESPN loves the SEC, but it doesn't lie about them.

Exactly! Hence why Romney lost the popular vote as well as the election.

More than just Fox News, I think the entire right-wing media bubble is to blame for a lot of the anger following the election. With Fox News, Dick Morris, Karl Rove, and UnskewedPolls, there was this entire alternative reality constructed in which Romney was ahead in the polls. Every commentator kept predicting Romney victories, and many predicted landslides. There wasn't anything beyond gut feeling to back up any of this commentary, but it was parroted everywhere.

As a result, people who mainly get their news from conservative sources existed in a bubble in which everyone was predicting a Romney victory, and any dissenting voices were quickly dismissed as ridiculous. This led to the entire backlash against Nate Silver, as the best model for election prediction tilted more and more in Obama's favor. Obama's chance of winning as calculated by Silver went from around 75% to over 90% in the two weeks leading up to the election, and this was simply unacceptable to those existing in the bubble created by right-wing commentary, hence the efforts to dismiss him as a kook.

While I still think there would be anger, I don't think the vitriol would be nearly as intense had Fox and other sources simply accurately reported the polls and told the public that any of their predictions of Romney's victory were nothing more than gut feeling. By giving their viewers a false sense of confidence in Romney's victory, Fox assured a massive letdown on election night.

Ah, yes da bubble. In summation Fox News = swimming in a baby sized gene pool of knowledge.

Baby-sized might be generous, I'd go with "fetus-sized."

I think Fox wanted this because outraged people watch the news and controversy is bad for Obama.

I just think it's hilarious. The Republican turnout has declined in the last three elections now - 62 mil for Bush in 2004, 60 mil for McCain in 2008, and now only 58 mil for Romney in 2012. The window is closing, and Fox is determined to get as many people up in arms as they can before most of their viewers die off.

MSNBC is pathetic. They are an embarrassment to their field. Fox News might be overly biased but at least they are professional when it comes to respecting others views. People can say what they want about Bill O' Reily but if he pulled half the crap Chris Matthews did, he would be without a job.

Fox News is pretty embarassing to the term "news" as well. MSNBC is slightly more partisan, but not by much at all.

Fox is just more acceptable to you because they align with your views.

That's because a lot of our party is dying out.. If we don't change with the times, the two largest parties 20 years from now will be Democrats & Libertarians. Fact.

Exactly. Hopefully 2012 is a wake-up call for Republicans to move back towards the moderate Republican party of old, but based on some of the rhetoric I've seen, I'm not going to hold my breath. If the Tea Party remains any kind of political force in the Republican party, the Republican party will be a 3rd party in 20 years, without a doubt.

Do what? You type that shit in while starring in the mirror? You seem a little confused. Probably should go turn on Fox News and get caught up to speed..

I'm sorry but that superior opponent shit has me laughing. What are we doing? Internet sparring? Can you please elaborate or expound on how you're esuperior. Hilarious. Thanks.

You read it wrong. You prolly used your inner angry voice(cuz you mad, ha!). Try reading with your inner happy voice. I know you're probably still angry over being duped into thinking your man would win but try to let it go for now.

The Republican Party has to become the Libertarian Party. It will die out in it's current state. Polls consistently show that the young generation of Americans are significantly less religious and more supportive of equal rights, equal marriage and social libertarianism.

Never mind that part of the GOP is still behind on 50 years worth of social issues... they don't have long left to change. Eventually more Americans will decide not to vote for Republicans at all until stop being so socially retarded ("retarded" being used in the correct context here).

Right now, the Republican party has absolutely zero appeal to rational young people, and as more and more voters turn 18 every year while more and more elderly Republicans die off, the bases are just shifting more and more to the Democrats. Ron Paul had some excitement among young people, but the Republican party screwed him worse than any Democrat did. Until the Republicans can embrace a candidate and a party platform that actually appeals to young people, they're screwed. As it is, I will be very, very surprised if they can adapt in time.

As damaging as this election may have been, the exact same figureheads are in place for the GOP, and they're not going anywhere. Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin - all of these people are still drawing viewers and listeners, and each one of them is extremely detrimental to the idea of Republican party reform. Not to mention the fact that the vast majority of big-money donors were supporting more hard-line candidates like Gingrich prior to Romney's nomination. If the money is still supporting the Tea Party candidates, there isn't a hope for the Republican party.
