Oddly after reading the report I was left wanting more info. I didn't feel like there was really anything new. This kinda talks about that a little. He's stretching a bit I think though.

He is stretching a lot, IMO.

The problem here is that you are going to have a hard time finding more about Paterno's involvement because of two reasons. One, he is dead. Two, he didn't use email (outside of sending messages through his admin).

With that said, I am comfortable in believing that Paterno was a lynchpin in this.

The people of Pennsylvania have the ability to get these clowns out. You start flooding your state reps and governors office and demand their resignation and they won't have a choice.

The governor is head of the board, as I said in my previous post. Don't think that will work. I'm hoping for the DOE to step in.

    I doubt the BOT lasts.

With that said, for all the BOT members to step down, that would have to include the governor. Fat chance.

By the way, I've disagreed with you and getmyjive during this...but you guys have represented yourselves and the PSU fanbase well in these threads. I remember how raw I felt when OSU was getting slammed, and this is even nastier and I feel bad for you good PSU fans/alumni.

I don't see any reason to get worked up about posting here. Some people are going to twist things or just consistently slam PSU no matter what, and I understand that. I'd rather say what I have to say in a way I think is rational and have people discuss it respectfully than get worked up and let emotions get in the way. Always clouds judgment, on both sides.

    Anything is worth trying.

The more I learn the more I doubt the innocence of the BoT. It's just disgusting and I truly hate you alum and fans are having to endure this.

You may have misunderstood me, idk. Honestly the report just restated a ton of s*** that I already knew/assumed. The only thing new was that Joe definitely knew about 98, so that condemns him. But we learned nothing from a bunch of important witnesses, including 3 very important people to this situation (Curley, Shultz, Spanier). Or that crook Corbett for that matter. So much stuff just ignored by this report. I just want it all to come out.

Btw, how did Spanier get a job for the Department of Defense? Frickin Obama administration.

  • the NCAA should strip Paterno of his wins and return the all time wins record to an actual decent human being named Eddie Robinson. And oh, PSU 247 mods should get rid of that 409 avatar.

    Agreed about the wins.

Wow how embarrassing this must be you PSU students, alums and fans... This has gone from bad to tragic real fast. So many people involved that could (and SHOULD) have done something to stop this and now everyone is pointing fingers at the other person. The whole situation is FUBAR and will need a lot of time, investigations, and firings to get this all straightened out.

To any PSU fan that thinks Joe Pa is innocent...shame on you! loco

  • Anything ever associated with JoePa or Sandusky needs to be torn down. Destroy the statue, stadium, practice fields, locker rooms. Everything that JoePa and Sandusky dealt with on a daily basis needs to go. If I'm a parent of a recruit I don't want my kid playing in a stadium where a pedo brought his victims. I don't want my kid showering in a shower where a pedo played with a kids sack. F that. Tear that shit down and start over. Erase all the wins JoePa got. Erase the championships and bowl games. Hope you have fun in hell guy.

  • if this had come out in 1998, that their assistant of the year, defensive coordinator, was a child rapist, what would the reaction be? would PSU still be as successful as they are now? would they still have all these fans and alumni?

what if it finally came out in 2001? i wonder how this will effect their future.

If they had Sandusky arrested in 1998, I don't think it kills PSU or Joe at all. Before that time how would they have know he was a child rapist? They would have stopped a monster and the program would have been fine, it might have took a hit during that year or so, but over time it would have been fine. The program even now is doing really well.

i also believe they would have taken a slight hit for a couple years tops, and probably would be where they were at currently (well right before the JS news).

so what exactly did they think they gained by hiding this? i do believe this was a save face move and the NCAA SHOULD hand down some punishment.

I have no idea what they thought they were gaining. I guess they wanted to protect Sandusky because he was a friend and they wanted to protect the image of the university and themselves. I also don't think they knew exactly how bad the situation was. I disagree on the NCAA punishment though, let the legal system handle this. PSU is going to be punished for this due to the civil lawsuits and the black cloud surrounding the university. I just don't see what punishing the football program will do, it will end up doing more harm than good.

I guarantee you they thought they had gotten away with it after a few years.

We will never know the entire story though, all the evidence is there and Spanier is still denying ever knowing anything about it. He's caught and he still won't admit he screwed up. I say prosecute every last one of them, including Wendall Courtney, Baldwin, and the assistant(s) (Schultz's assistant from what I've read so far, could be more) who removed documents pertaining to the case out of the office. They can all rot in a jail cell for all I care. There's no reason good enough to excuse this garbage.

Sandusky molested a kid 50 miles away from Penn State's campus multiple times. The kid outed him and it was actually investigated.

I have no doubt that if Sandusky only molested kids on PSU's campus this would have never come out.

Victim 1's mother contacted the authorities in early 2008, Sandusky was a volunteer coach at the boys school.

if Joe didnt find out in 2001, then i agree you shouldnt punish the program. but i think the only reason he DIDNT come out in 2001 was bc he knew it would destroy the football program when the public found out they knew in 98 but sat on it.

the cover up is always worse than the crime.

You can't prove it was just to protect the football program though and I don't really think that was the case, it was more about protecting the whole university and his image as well as the others guys images. The football team gained no advantage so I don't see why the football program should be punished. Those who are responsible will pay and PSU as a whole is going to pay, leave it at that. Like I said earlier punishing the football program hurts a lot of people who had nothing to do with this and does more harm than good.

Pretty sure a mod or admin needs to do it and some PSU fans have had theirs removed and others want to keep them.
