  • Jesus. Remember all the Penn St fans claiming that Joe did everything possible?

Well, they were right. He did everything possible to protect Sandusky.

    It looks that way.

I don't think you will find a majority of PSU fans on Joe's side anymore. I know you cannot read the VIP thread on our board, but I don't think anyone on there is supporting Joe right now.

Joe Paterno put football above the well being of children who were being raped by one of his coaches. In his own locker room.

Penn State fans should demand that the football program be shut down.

Shutting down the football program will also shut down the 29 other sports that need the program's revenue. It will also drain the economy of Centre County and the university I graduated from. No, I will not be demanding the football program be shut down. I am demanding action be taken to prevent anything like this every happening again and to bring all those involved to justice. But you'll just spin this into "he supports child rape," so, oh well.

Considering the heinous crimes committed by the men running the football program at Penn State, those consequences seem minimal.

Right. Destroying the finances of a university, which will ultimately close a school with some 80,000 current students and 500,000 alumni is a minimal punishment for a bunch of people, who are no longer there, majorly screwing up. Reasonable. Good work!

You make it sound like football is the only thing that brings in money.

Tuition and other things will take care of the school.

    To hell with your AD

I don't think shutting the football program down would ultimately close the school. Although, given the culture at that school that might not be the worst thing either.

Why was the channel changed on campus when the Freeh report came out?

This is a sick, sick community who's priorities are still waaaay out of whack.

You and getmyjive have always been levelheaded, but anytime punishments are discussed you both seem to think nothings warranted. The people involved will face criminal charges, but the university needs to pay their price too.

@CharlesRobinson: This is often a major example of lack of institutional control. RT @BryanDFischer Report states PSU has no centralized compliance office.
