Fuller talks UCLA commitment

We caught up with Devin Fuller to hear why he picked the Bruins over Rutgers, Arizona and Nebraska among others.

  • Personally, it would've been cool to see how Devin Fuller would have flourished in Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez's offense. Easy to think Pat White. However, great get for UCLA.

  • As a Nebraska fan and knowing my Huskers were one of Fuller's finalists, it hurts to not get this kid. I wish him the best of luck at UCLA. And by the way, Nebraska and UCLA play each other the next two seasons. I hope my Huskers will show Fuller he chose the wrong school.

  • Interesting to say the least. I plan on following where he ends up four years from now (position wise, etc.)

  • One has to wonder why he's still doing his 5:30 announcement time if this is already leaked. Seemed like a good kid, he will never get a snap at Quarterback at UCLA. Too bad really, could have been huge at either Nebraska or Arizona.

Yeah there was some miscommunication there or something. As a policy, we don't run with things before the kid announces. It's always up to the prospect when a story gets released.

  • Its Devin Fuller's prerogative where he goes! I wish him the best some others and i would be curious what happens to him at QB because UCLA has always had a prostyle QB. May be coach Mora is trying to change things up a little and he needed the right QB. We will see; good luck young man!

    Khoolshady

  • It sounds like Mora is doing it right.

There are lots of kids who want to play in LA and aren't USC type players. Under The last two coaches the school was so bad at recruiting they made these kids settle for other areas when they'd rather be in L.A.

The problem at UCLA has not been recruiting. Neu pulled in some major talent.

  • I still don't get it. Fuller has been stern on playing QB the entire process, then heads to a coach whose stylings have always been geared more towards Pro-Style kind of QBs than the Dual Threat that Devin in.

Regardless, I wish 'em luck. Except when he's up against the Huskers.

He has put together a great staff for sure.

  • I fear he will follow the same path as Owa... all the promise in the world, then go to UCLA and get swallowed up by mediocre coaching, mediocre expectations and mediocre support of the athletic program. He will also be sad to learn that he won't get an actual shot at quarterback.

No he pulled in major **** talent that never played up to potential. Yes some of that was coaching but a lot of it was HS stars that weren't college players.

The team ditched practices and lost games due to lack of effort and talent. That's not going to happen under Mora.

  • I feel bad for the kid. He got snookered into a system that will not allow him to flourish. My guess? A FS for the next coach to follow yet another failed NFL journeyman.

    NPKNIGHT

  • UCLA pulled off a major coup with this young man, UCLA never seemed to be a major player until Rutgers lost their coach. There are always HS kids who don't pan out to the ratings always depends on the system, coaching and team chemistry. Did we know he had family in LA?

    HUSKER POWER

  • With all of Nebraska's skill players coming back for at least two more years, if not three, Fuller at quarterback for the Huskers would have made their offense very lethal ! I just don't see him accomplishing at UCLA what he could possibly accomplish at Nebraska.

    IowaHusker79

  • It's OK that Fuller chose UCLA. He probably didn't expect to be able to beat out Tommy Armstrong on the depth chart at QB if he did go to Nebraska and he is probably right. Fuller will end up playing DB at UCLA I bet and would have ended up at DB for Nebraska too... I really don't mind not getting Fuller because I am more than pleased with Armstrong. I was not expecting him to go to UCLA... out of the blue and it smells funny. I wish him the aboslute best of luck and hope he does get to start at QB right away as a true freshman... i will be cheering for him to get the start when he comes to Lincoln...

  • It's my opinion any time a recruit doesn't pick Nebraska they are making the hugest mistake of their lives. This one's no different. Still I wish him the best of luck out there. Sounds like he really is comfortable with his decision. I can't wait for our home and away series with UCLA this year and next.

    Braskypants15

  • It is seriously tough keeping it classy here. To the 5,000 or so actual real fans that UCLA has: Congrats on the pick up.

    Braskypants15

  • I suppose the only good thing about Fuller going to UCLA is that it gives the Bruins another weapon to beat that obnoxious Lane Kiffin and his USC Trojans !
