GT to Big 10?

  • vtfan_90 said...

Lets go GT!!! FSU, Clemson and VT fans are all rooting for you.. You can do it!!!

Is the perception that if GT leaves for the B1G, that these teams will move to the Big 12?

Yes it will be another big domino.. We all know that there are a few more cash strapped programs in the ACC.. If GT left our TV Deal(which already sucks) would decrease to the single digits per team. Which would not help those programs bleeding for money.

Also it would make a bad ACC worse if thats possible. Way to many bottom feeders as is.

So who will the 16th do you guys think?

Really hope they shake up the divisions and put tOSU and Michigan in the same division. Otherwise the SOS schedule for tOSU and Michigan will always be much harder than practically everyone in their divisions thus making it unfair.

Gotta have those two battling it out in the same division.

Great question bro. I never thought it would be GT to the B1G

The basketball in the B1G is going to be outstanding pretty shortly. I don't like how the larger conference for basketball will make it likely that Michigan will only face MSU and OSU probably once per season. Those games are always so fun to watch, and there is always so much enthusiasm from the fans and players alike.

I have no idea who they are planning on adding for the 16th though, gotta think Delaney has something up his sleeve before this gets announced though.

No chance, although that would be great for the B1G.

  • Makes no sense. GT is nowhere near the next most valuable property the B10 can add at this point. The B10 has had preliminary talks with a number of schools, almost certainly including GT, and this looks like a leak from those talks. But it does not mean GT has been invited as #15.

Notre Dame will never constrain themsleves like that geographically. ND to the Big 12 is still really the only viable conference affiliation. They could join along with BYU in 2015 maybe.

Maybe Virginia. That would pave the way for VA Tech to the SEC

  • Winner of ACCCG should get conference exit fees nullified. You'd see two teams kill each other.

Swofford just said he is going to replace GT with either Gonzaga or Butler, so that the basketball dynasty can remain entact.

The SEC doesn't have a buyout clause so it's still an option.

Maybe we should just take UF and UGA? shrug

  • I'm still hoping the B1G lands Texas...as soon as they realize LHN wasn't thought out and was about ego...well see what happens.

We are stretching our landscape. ND will still have an ooc schedule with its rivals. They're coming to the B1G, imo..

Ugggg. I'd rather have A&M. Not as high maintenance.

    MrWoodson

  • The ACC's problem is we have 4 schools that share the same TV market in North Carolina...and none are Football Schools to carry any weight.

Notre Dame's future conference home is a topic you could write books about its been discussed so much. The title of the book could be, "ND and B1G? Never in a million years"

Most of the time on here we are able to banter back and forth our opinions, on something like this there is an encyclopedia of informed opinions. Im just repeating those.

This makes no sense. They wouldn't constrain themselves to the B1G, but would to the Big12? The B1G's footprint is much larger.

I still think that Delaney is trying to make the B1G a national conference, thus taking away the regional aspect of it. I would say the next step in this would be UNC, as they are a national brand. Texas is another national brand that I think would be considered. Adding Texas and ND makes the B1G a national conference with appeal across the nation, and thus makes your argument null and void.
