Game of Thrones: Please Check OP Before Posting ITT

  • I started a thread on this by accident.

    But, has anyone here read the books? If a movie or TV show is made from a book I generally like to read the book before seeing the show. Since I've just finished season 1 on HBO, I don't know want to go back and read the first book. My question is, did the HBO series actually end where the first book ends? Can I just start reading Book 2? Or is season 2 on HBO going to also include stuff from book 1 that I need to read?

    Last season did get kind of nuts at times but that show rules too IMO, besides most HBO shows I get addicted to and have to finish them even if I get tired of them

    Like Entourage, freaking hate that show now but I will watch it each week

    The books aren't very specific but she did sacrifice that woman. Plus it only worked because Danaerys is dragonborn.

    Well sir, I am not your average American. I actually started reading the books, but I wanted to finish out the season with that element of surprise. Now that it's over, I'll probably finish the first book and continue one to books 2-5.

  • I know you're not the average american..im saying thats the reason the writers for the show didnt take the time to explain the process behind the dragons hatching. Im around 800 into the second book now..its great.

    I think it's gonna be worth reading the books just to avoid spoilers. I want to be able to discuss this story and universe without worrying about having it ruined for me.

    SPOILERS

    I've already been spoiled the first scene of next season, where Stannis declares himself king. Also, the deaths of a couple characters.

    END SPOILERS

    I don't want that to happen anymore.

  • Anybody read the newest book yet? I forgot it's already out and looked it up on amazon. The reviews seem pretty meh. I'm still gonna read it for myself. I was just curious if anyone else has and if they did what they thought of it.
