totally missed them ....what the ...

The first picture is from the very first scene of the show, and they only show that shot for a quick second

When Jon Snow sees one he barely gets a look at its eyes and then profile of his body before it fades away and then Craster knocks him the fugg out

Better so far, in my opinion.

Yep, fat kid mentioned it. One horn blast for something, two for something else, three for white walkers.

iirc, in the books it was 1 for rangers returning, 2 for wildlings and 3 for "others".

  • What is the deal with the shadow? I rarely like shows like this, but I have been enjoying this. The problem is my attention span doesn't allow for me to follow this many characters.

  • Episode 5
    New Characters
    Pyromancer
    Pyrus Pree Warlock in Qarth
    Quaithe of Asshai

    Baratheons –

Renly – The episode opens with Renly in a tent with Catelyn and Brienne. Catelyn is brokering a deal between him and Robb for an alliance. Renly eventually agree’s to an alliance with Robb and everything seems to be going in a good direction. A few minutes later Brienne is helping to take off Renly’s armor when a shadow enters the room. Catelyn see’s it but is powerless to do anything as it comes up behind Renly and ends up stabbing him through the back. Brienne fights off a couple of guards before her and Catelyn go through the back of the tent and disappear.

Stannis – After landing, he takes up Renly’s tent as his own and he and Davos have a conversation. Davos asks him what happened and says he wants to talk about what he saw under Castle Rock with Melisandre. Stannis doesn’t want to hear any of it. Just for clarification and I’m not sure it was mentioned in the show, Stannis has dreams, and he is the shadow. He knew his brother was dead and it is implied that he killed him. Davos was made Captain of the fleet to attack Blackwater at Kings Landing. He was assured that the other captains would listen to him, as most of them, in Stannis’ mind, should be tried for treason. Basically they followed Renly instead of him, but he was willing to forgive them, since they took the knee. Davos tells Stannis that he usually doesn’t do things this way, and it will come back to haunt him. Davos is also informed that Melisandre will NOT be going to Kings Landing.

Starks – Hope I can keep everything pretty close to what happened.

Catelyn – She was present at Renly’s murder and saw the shadow. Her and Brienne escaped from the encampment, but look like they are the guilty ones in his murder. Next time they are seen is in the woods on the way back to the North. Brienne asks Cat for her permission to kill Stannis if she ever gets the chance. After Cat says yes, Brienne pledges her life to her. Brienne is now Cat’s personal bodyguard.

Bran and Rickon – Both are seen holding court again at Winterfell. Rickon is the youngest Stark and he is the one smashing acorns at the table. Bran is informed that Torrhen Square is being attacked and dispatches, I think it is Ser Rodrick, to take 200 men and make sure it is secure. Bran and Osha also have a conversation about his dreams and his abilities. He tells her about a dream where Winterfell is flooded by the sea, and one of the bodies is Ser Rodrick’s that he see’s. I think for now, Osha, is going to replace Meera and Jojen Reed from the books.

Hodor – Hodor hodor hodor, hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor. Hodor hodor hodor hodor…hodor.

Jon – The Nights Watch has moved on from Crasters and they are in a winter wasteland. They are setting up camp and waiting for Qhorin Halfhand. While waiting, there is a sound of a horn. The Watch has different signals, 1 blow on the horn if they are friends, 2 for wildlings, and we find out from Sam that 3 blasts means White Walkers. It has been 1000 years since they have heard 3 blasts. Qhorin eventually shows up and explains who Mance Rayder is. Mance used to be a Nights Watch, but he deserted and went North of the Wall. He has organized the Wildlings and put together a vast army. Qhorin informs the Lord Commander that they need to take a small scouting party to find out what Mance has, and that 400 men would be worthless and spotted quickly. Jon volunteers to go and joins him and 3 others.

Arya – She is performing her new job as cup bearer to Tywin Lannister. She gets to sit in on meetings that he has in Harrenhall. Tywin and Arya have a conversation as she at first lies about where she is from. She admits that she is from the north. Tywin asks for her opinion on Robb and what the people are saying. She tells the stories that are going around, with Robb riding in on a great Direwolf and being unkillable. Tywin asks her if she thinks he is unkillable, and Arya says “No, anyone can be killed.” At this point Tywin asks for his water and she goes to get some. While she is outside she runs into Jaqen H’ghar, the man that she saved in the burning cage. Jaqen explains to her that she gets 3 lives for the 3 that she saved. All she has to do is give a name. She ends up naming ‘The Tickler’. Later while she watches Gendry practice swords, in which she gives him a quick lesson, there is a thump in the background. Arya see’s that the Tickler fell and broke his neck, she looks up to see Jaqen point at her. The first of her 3 lives have been reclaimed.

Robb – Not in this episode

Sansa – I don’t remember if she is in the episode, I don’t think she was, but I thought I saw a glimpse of her at one point.

    Lannisters –

Tywin – Although mentioned in the part with Arya, he had a bigger part this week. He is at a table with his advisors. They are going over strategy. Tywin comes off as shrewd and very realistic. He knows exactly what is going on and doesn’t mince words or try to change reality. One of his cousins says that his men need rest, and he dismisses him from the table, threatening that if he weren’t a Lannister he would have hanged him. Tywin knows the cost of war, even when told that Lannister spies were saying there was discontent with the northern Lords, he says that Stark spies would report the same thing to Robb.

Cersei – She is trying to get some of her power back, and has a conversation with Tyrion in which she uses the excuse of only the King needing to know to not give him any information about the defenses that are being constructed. Cersei is upset that her daughter is being shipped away.

Tyrion – After the conversation with Cersei, he meets up with Lancel to get the information she is keeping from him. At this point he finds out they are planning on using wildfire. Wildfire, to me, seems like Napalm, or that is the description I get from it. Bronn and Tyrion meet with the Pyromancers guild. They find out that they have been making the wildfire day and night for Cersei. There is enough of it there to level Kings Landing. In the books Kings Landing could probably be described as a city with about 500,000 residents. Tyrion informs the Pyromancers that they are no longer working for Cersei, they are now working for him.

Joffrey – Not in this episode

    Greyjoys –

Theon – Finally a captain of a ship, he shows up to lead his men. Again, for as arrogant as he attempts to be, the men just ignore him and make fun of him. They know that he has not proven himself, and they won’t respect him until he does. Yara is there with him to see her brother off. She gives him some advice, but lets him know that she has 50 ships, all of which would wait for years until she gives the command to move. The last one to come out is the first mate, I missed his name. Theon talks to him about attacking Torrhen Square. He is thinking things out and says that he knows Winterfell will send men to reclaim the Square.

    Targaryen –

Daenerys – On to the city of Qarth, where Daenarys is seen with her handmaids in a large room. She is teaching one of the dragons how to spit fire, but also training based on one word to attack so that only she can control them. There is more of an introduction to Xaro Xhoan Daxos, the trader who allowed her and the Khalasar to enter Qarth. He is the richest merchant in the city, but he has come from a poor background. Jorah and Daenerys walk around the party and Jorah warns her to be on her guard. Xaro throws a party for Daenerys, and during the party he takes her to another room with a vault, he offers her ½ of everything behind the vault, if she will marry him. At one point during the party, Daenerys is approached by Pyrus Pree, from the Warlocks guild. Xaro explains that they drink a substance that turns their brains to mush and their lips blue. Jorah is also approached by Quaithe, the lady with her face covered except for her eyes.

I feel like I’m forgetting something, but I’m sure people will let me know.

  • I'm currently downloading episode 5. I'm kinda bummed that I got caught up because I enjoyed watching 2-3 episodes at a time :(

Episode 4 sure had a crazy ending. Not real sure what that birth was. (never read the books)
