Glad you are liking it. Game of Thrones is probably only the third best book in the series IMO. So you are really going to like it moving forward.

  • im looking forward to kings landing..the brief screen shot in the frist episode looked amazing. Also looking forward to the wall..the magnitude and design of it sounds ridiculous.

  • I can't wait to see the Wall either. It showed it for a brief second in the opening scenes of the first episode but I want an extended look.

  • So tell me about the book series. Are there three books and if so what are they called and which one is first and does it start with the same as the show? I am thinking about getting the books before I head to the beach for the summer. I read a lot the first month or so when it's dead down there.

There are 4 books and so far the show is following ver closely. The books are Game if Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows in that order. A Dance with Dragons is the fifth book and it comes out in July.

I was suprised how true the show is to the original material. Definitely worth a read

  • It was a bit of a slow episode but it was really just setting everything up for the next few episodes.

yea..my roomate was a little discouraged by the slow pace. I told him they were just setting up the character development and that its going to pick up soon. Peter Dinklage will get an emmy imo..Tyrion is one of my favorite characters

I guess when you've read the books, you pick up on all the little innuendo and such, so you know that character X is setting something up for character Y, etc. etc. etc. Thought it was very good and the first few episodes were too fast, IMHO; they went through roughly 200 pages in 2 episodes. It's a 700 page book for 10 episodes, so it actually needed to slow down.

Thought they nailed the "Dancing Instructor".

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I enjoyed it like you. I guess I was letting people that haven't read the books know that it is settig everything up. I loved the scene between Ned and Jamie at the first of the episode.

  • Thought it was a little slower than the first two. The first two were really fast though.

  • I thought it was the best episode yet, some of the nastier characters finally got a much deserved bitch slap. My question is, is HBO doing one book a season or are they just calling the show GOT to maintain some regularity? It seems like they could get through it in 3 seasons fairly easily and keeping cast continuity for 5 or more could be difficult. I always hate it when great shows change cast mid-series. It is hard to imagine Sean Bean keeping a 5 year commitment to the show, but then again i dont know how his character progresses either. Making a point of not reading the books, because i want to be surprised by the plot of the shows. I am a big Wheel of Time fan, so it is great to see a show with such high production value from the genre.

Loved the Gregor / Hound story w/ Littlefinger. Gregor is such a savage, I hated that guy all through the books.

Best part about this series is that there is no clear cut good/bad guy. Everyone has a duality about them, which is how real life is. There's a few exceptions, but for the most part it holds true.

Agreed. I despise Lady Stark with a passion in the books and I'm glad some of the things I didn't like about her book character are coming through in the show.
