They are starting to deviate quite a bit.

Yeah, I wonder why they are deviating so far from the book this season when season 1 was pretty much true to the book?

As the story becomes bigger and bigger they will deviate more and more. One thing they do consistently is to take lines from the book, and give them to different characters in the show.

They're also going to get a little into Book 3 this season. Book 3 is going to = Seasons 3 and 4. Seasons 5 and 6 will be A Feast for Crows and A Dance With Dragons, but I'd anticipate that they'll run the storylines concurrently, so that the first half of Books 4 and 5 make up Season 5, and the 2nd halfs of the books make up Season 6. For those that don't know, AFC and ADwD take place during the exact same time period, but 'Crows deals with the central continent of Westeros while 'Dragons deals with the North and what's happening beyond the Narrow Sea. So, some characters from book 3 don't make an appearance until Book 5 . . .

That's why it's almost impossible for the show to follow Books 4 and 5 exactly; you'd have an entire season where main characters just don't show up at all.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I ran across a post that showed how to read Feast and DwD's together in the exact timeline, I'll see if I can dig it up.

  • Which story lines in the show are deviating from the book? I think what's happening north of the wall is my favorite story line right now. Probably because of Ygritte.

Qarth most notably, and Jaime Lannister.

yea, and though he dies in the book as well, it was a major step in Arya's development. Arya killing the tickler was a great scene in the book.

Do NOT post that. This is a Spoiler-Free thread. I've read that post, and by listing the chapters out (Because they're always given by character's name), you give away who's alive after BOOK 3 (aka, after Season 4).

That's as big a spoiler as I can think of.

  • I'm officially hooked. After getting caught up on the show, I bought the books, and in only a week I've already knocked out GOT and nearly finished Clash of Kings. I've just finally "passed the show" in terms of timeline although it's sometimes hard to tell since the storylines are different in many ways. It's been a great week of reading but my only worry is this - if I could finish the first two books in a week, even if the other three take me a month all together, I'll be done with it quickly. I can't put them down but I'm also not looking forward to the wait for the next book. Anyone know when it's expected to be released?

Wow... that's awful. Then we still have to wait for the final book after that? He needs to hurry up.

As I said before, he will most likely die before he finishes the series. Will suck.

Just so you know, it was 6 years between feast of crows, and Dance with Dragons.

You have no idea. We had to wait five freaking years for book 5.

  • Oh you are right it was 6 years.

He will definitely die before he finishes the series.

IIRC he is working on a new Dunk and Egg Tale before he completes book 6. He needs to work on Winds of Winter!
