I got the first 4 last week. You can get them on Amazon for just over $20. About 1/4 of the way through the first one and season 1 of the show is remarkably accurate to the book, particularly the dialogue, with a little bit here and there that wasn't in the show.
It's almost like they used to book dialogue as a script so far. I normally read slow and four 800+ page books seemed daunting, but it's making me want to catch up to show's current timeline quickly.

I agree. I also feel like, for the most part, the changes have been for the better. It made the storylines more efficient (Arya), less boring (Dany), or provided more detail (Robb) than in the books.
As much as people enjoy the Tyrion scenes - his character is significantly duller/less interesting in the show, IMO. He almost seemed incompetent last night.

I think Tyrion is cast perfectly and one of the truer representations to the books. Especially his voice and delivery...almost exactly as I imagined. One thing that takes away for us is we cant see his thoughts in the show- so when he may look scared or confused or bested at times its still obvious he is plotting something else in his mind.
As far as the changes, I think they end uyp in the same places but they are not evolving the way some of them did and might end up being different people- i think we are heading towards a major change from the book at some point. Would any of you be surprised if a major outcome changes from the books at some point?
If the books are never finished this show will be open to write once it gets passed the last book published
however, I am sure GRRM has shared or will share how he wants it to end, i am not sure he cares how they get there.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I wasn't a fan of the guy that played Robert Baratheon for whatever reason. Agree that Joffrey and Arya are pretty spot on.
Also the guy that has been killing for Arya. Can't remember how to spell it and I know I will butcher it. He is spot on too.
