  • Yes but we all know that "Bush and his oil buddies" control the gas prices...well at least according to the left. Why would his oil buddies want to help Obama get reelected?

  • Probably has nothing to do with rising production and inventories and lower demand.

It probably has more to do with "Obama and the bureaucrats"-Right or "Bush and oil buddies"-Left.

They should do an exit poll on the sixth and ask how many Americans think the President directly controls gas prices. I'd be the house its at least a plurality.

I guess you have at least 7 already ITT.

  • Oooh, so does this mean if Romney wins the presidency we can start attacking him in a few years when gas prices rise for reasons entirely out of the president's control?

Jeebus, the only people who bring up historical gas prices are the ones who insist on using the tired and ignorant "Gas was $1.87 when Obama took office" attack. Anyone with half an ounce of sense realizes that the president doesn't control gas prices.

Gas prices are controlled by the president if he isn't from your party.

Then why the hell hasn't gas dropped in Alabama so significantly? Cali? Any other state that is NOT (keyword there) a swing state?

Exactly, once again you prove you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Go back to your philosophy class, I am sure you will fix all problems there.

Oil has dropped seven dollars a barrel and gas here in mobile has dropped close to twenty-five cents in the last week. It's down to $3.34 at my local gas station. Not sure where you live, but sorry.

The reason why Cali hasn't swinged much is because a) they have stricter gas rules and have to produce it in-state. It costs more and is more susceptible to supply injunctions like the Richmond production facility shutdown. Regional variances also have to do with stuff too. Ohio is at the heart of an oil and gas boom. Maybe they are getting the benefit of that increase in supply. Nevertheless, oil prices have fallen and so have gas prices recently.

What in the hell are you talking about? Gas prices in Ohio dropped about 49 cents ($3.76 to $3.27), while gas prices in California dropped about 42 cents ($3.67 to $3.25) over the same period of time.

Once again, YOU prove that you don't know what you're talking about.

That is the base of all of the humor I derive from the debates and all of the squabbling over "It's Bush's fault-It's Obama's fault".

So you don't think the president opening up offshore drilling, banning fracking, or permitting the Alaskan pipeline wouldn't have any effects on gas prices?

    Lol

Those are blips in the determinant of oil prices. More long-term actually, than short-term. Production is still the highest since 1995 and we are about to be awash in natural gas and oil produce domestically.

Not really, but that's irrelevant. If we didn't happen to be located on top of a sea of fossil fuels in the Northeast and Midwest it wouldn't matter. This administration hasn't been "drill, baby, drill", but it hasn't really got in the way either.
