Gas plunges in Ohio...

  • dpfenny said...

Well if the prices rose because of "Bush policies" destabilizing the region...and now the region is supposedly more stable. Should not the prices have dropped, not be at an all time high?

Once again, did Fox dub over all of the video clips that you immediately disregarded?

I haven't got a chance to watch the videos because I'm in class.

Like I said earlier, it's a multi-variable equation and its not determined to one region as a whole. Has the restabilization fully occurred? I don't know. Even if it has, it doesn't matter because GLOBAL demand hasn't really stopped increasing (despite a brief respite in 2008-2009). The global demand is outpacing the replacement of supply level in the Middle East.

So then the rise in global demand is Bush's fault? Funny I seem to remember some of the right talking about the increasing demand in China etc but it was quickly drown out by the "Bush's fault" cry from the leadership from the left.

There is no point in discussing this if you won't leave your god damn politics at the door.

I probably should disclaimer every post from here on out.

I've been trying to have a nonpartisan, serious debate here.

I haven't said anything political, but have just been arguing facts about oil prices and their relation to policy.

Probably has nothing to do with rising production and inventories and lower demand.

It probably has more to do with "Obama and the bureaucrats"-Right or "Bush and oil buddies"-Left.

They should do an exit poll on the sixth and ask how many Americans think the President directly controls gas prices. I'd be the house its at least a plurality.

    Control? No.

    Influence? Absolutely.

Long-term. Sure. Short-term. Not really, unless there is some catastrophe or crisis where we would need to nationalize gas (a domestic invasion) or release strategic reserves (1973).

Eh as much as people bash the guy, Bush did a pretty okay job at working with said countries on the price per barrel.

Production is obviously bottle necked by refineries, or in our case, the lack of them.

Approving more drilling wouldn't do much good as we can only refine oil so quickly with limited oil refineries.

  • We get our oil from Canada and Latin Amerca. 40% of our oil comes from right here in the US. 45% comes from Canada an Latin America. 15% comes from the Middle East. The Middle East instability shouldn't really ever dramatically effect our gas prices. Stupid Americans. Blame the Canucks.

The fall in the value of the dollar is a huge factor in the high prices. I am sure that is Bush's fault as well.

Oil is sold on a global market. A camel shit can move the price of a barrel.

Domestically, we aren't having a problem with supply (up a lot) and demand (down a lot), but we consume more than we produce and there are billions of other consumers that are driving demand and hundreds of other producers than can shake supply.

Buddy, south Louisiana usually has some of the lowest gas prices in the country. We are paying 3.30, Cleveland, Ohio was at 3.12. Come on man
