  • And to add to this, Muschamp doesn't recruit like Urb. Urb used FNL to start snowballing our recruiting momentum. He'd have silents hold off going public until FNL. We'd go in with a handful of public commitments and come out with a bunch more.

Muschamp already had ~18 commits leading into FNL. And a small board with a few key targets going forward to reach 23-25. FNL is now used to have a few of our current targets battle for a spot or two, make leeway on our big targets if they're planning on dragging out their recruitments thru the season or into NSD, and focus on upcoming sophomores and juniors.

That was my point. FNL usually ended with several commitments. Not intended as a flame.

  • I'm no UF fan so take this from an outsider, I prefer the way Muschamp does it. He seems to focus FNL as a showcase for a few current class kids to come to and get the UF experience, a showcase for those borderline current class guys to compete against other kids for one of the final few spots and the biggest and most important part imo, a showcase for kids in the '14 and '15 classes. With the accelerrated recruiting cycles these days, it's very important to have a showcase for those future kids and I like the way Muschamp focused on that part of the equation. I liked the way LSU got proactive with the future kids with the camps this year and feel the same with the other schools doing so. Helps to get those evaluations more advanced and properly done with the early offers required these days. Kind of helps offset some the "misses" that will inevitably come with the rushed evals and offers. Kudos to Muschamp.
