They'll have one hell of a year if they do. Geno got some serious weapons.

This might be crazy talk but WVU should be the darkhorse contender to win the Big 12. They get OU at home and I don't think any other offenses in that conference can score with them. They have to go to Austin, which promises to be a good match up of styles, but until UT gets a QB worth a damn, you have to liek WVU's chances there.

  • I think Geno will win the Heisman next year... Big 12 teams don't play good defense... and they have an offense that can do some damage...

Clemson was not a defensive team they ... Maryland was 2-10...and why are you even arguing with me? I never said ACC had great defense... never came out of my mouth... I said the big 12 had terrible defense and those "good" offenses were not good in OOC games against quality teams... look at the Big 12s defense rankings they are all very low...

SEC offenses aren't highly ranked. Is that because the offenses are terrible, or is it because of good defense?

Come on Mountie everyone knew Maryland sucked last year, and Clemson had a terrible defense. I have seen your offense play against some decent defenses, and get bea or struggle. Of course it was when Geno and the rest of the team was trying to get used to the offense

SEC offenses are highly ranked....there are 4 SEC teams in the top 4...the first Big 12 team on the list is Oklahoma and they are 52...

First year in the system, that is true. Team still put up over 500 yards on LSU and scored 21 points doing it. That was the #1 or #2 defense last year. WVU defense just couldn't get a stop.

My question is... Since the SEC offenses aren't highly ranked, do they suck or is it because of SEC defenses?

Just checked the final offensive rankings from last year. The highest ranked SEC offense was Georgia at #27, and only 3 SEC teams in the top 55. Where are these 4 teams in the top 4 you speak of?

  • I'm actually wondering why you are arguing with me? I pretty much just said your QB and your offense which I respect was going to put up numbers capable of getting him a heisman...where is that a bad thing... and by the way the Big 12s defense suck and everyone knows it... there was one year where 4 QBs in that conference had 5k yds with less than 10int... that is terrible defense in my opinion...

They do have good offenses, but also pretty poor defenses if were going by PPG(which I think is dumb because you have a team like OkState who scores every 2 minutes and gives thus gives the other team more drives to score on). Oklahoma and Texas had fairly legitimate defenses, but Okie State and Baylor were pretty bad.

I'm not a big 12 school guy, Im a USC fan. Texas will play defense just as well as FSU this year. After FSU there is a HUGE drop off in defenses, as well as a standard of poor offensive play to match, especially on the OL.

If this weren't the case ACC teams wouldn't be getting exposed OOC and in bowl games, especially the big ones.

GOOD DEFENSES! Just saying this because of the proximity I was to the game, but look at South Carolina. Their offense did very well against us in the bowl game

    IDWIW

  • This was about defense... so I don't know why you are talking about SEC offense... but usually when a conference has highly ranked defense then Offensive numbers in said conference will be low too... duh... High ranked defense conf low rank offensive numbers hints the fact the Big 12 has 6 teams in the top 12 offensive numbers...

Alright, so help me understand your logic.

6 Big 12 teams in the top 10 on offense = bad Big 12 defense.

6 SEC teams in the top 10 on defense = good defense.

Gotcha. Makes total sense in all aspects.

Clemson=Bad defense where did anybody say they had good defense? Like I said before I never said the ACC had great defense... The only thing I state was Big 12 plays poor defense... wasn't comparing at all... you assumed I was saying the ACC had great defense because I'm an FSU fan which isnt the case... do I think our conference as a whole plays better defense than the Big 12 yes... but do I think Texas on a good year can have good defenses Yes...
