Get to work? Why would I do that?

I'm just gonna kick back and have about six illegitimate children and collect $1800 per child, thanks Obama.

I work in a hospital people literally do this, And make about $60,000 a year.

    Reagan? Is that you?

Yeh man, Toronto to be exact.

Very nice. I'm a dual citizen, and my mom's entire family is in Vancouver. Going there for Christmas and I can't wait. I haven't been to Canada in about a year, and after living in the Midwest, I'm dying for a break.

I'm curious as to the math of how they make $60,000/year. Would you mind explaining that to me, and showing where that $60,000 comes from?

Pshhhhh....if you don't already know, then you probably aren't smart enough to understand. sarcasm

This made me laugh, then made me sad when I thought about how many people on this board have actually used this response seriously against my questions.

Vancouver is awesome. Halifax, Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto are all awesome cities in their own right.

Also it's funny it seems like the main reason you Republicans don't like Obama is because "he gives all those leeches money so they sit at home and take my money while not doing anything".

Do you realize actually how little of your money actually goes to these people?

A lot of it. You should try working in public schools. I work in Gwinnett County, Ga, a huge public school system in the metro-Atlanta area. In 2011, we had 162,000 kids enrolled, and 53% were on free- or reduced-price lunch. Guess who pays for that?

Now ... I'm OK with that, until I look up in my classroom and see some of these same kids with iPhones, Blackberries and Beats head phones. It's sickening. I have a two kids in daycare. Costs me about $1,300/month. Yet I watch many people drag their kids into these facilities with iPhone and Gucci purse in hand, while their kids go to school for free.

If you want to know where society is going, step inside a public school. It's not a pretty picture.

Im sure he means $1800 a month. Regardless of exact figures, he is right about the concept, though. More kids = more money..

    No it doesn't.

Look at many countries across the world who have much more social assistance and are in much better financial situations than the US are in currently.

Republicans just make up these bullshit myths that are so far from reality. There are many case studies that you can look at that directly contradicts what you are saying right now.

You could potentially look at it another way. Look at countries that have freest market economies, the purest forms of capitalism, and provide little to zero social assistance. Hong Kong on a per capita basis has the most high net worth individuals anywhere and the largest or second largest wealth band in the world. Sure the wealth gap is enormous but the poverty band is very small.

Granted, the poor are so destitute that they make Brazilian favela residents look loaded, so there is that...

Not much more, you will get an max of $200 extra per kid in most states in food assistance, and in most states there is a maximum amount of time in a lifetime you can receive cash assistance. You also won't be getting near $1000 per child.

I'm not saying your way doesn't work. I am saying "socialism" as some of you like to put it, isn't the devil. It doesn't create a lazy country, that is bullshit republican propaganda that evidently many of posters here have bought into.

    Don't forget PPP.

By the way, Hong Kong isn't a good universal candidate for comparison.

That would be like me say "Look at Monaco or Luxembourg! They have great median incomes, debt ratios and zero unemployment. We should all be tax havens and be small, heterogenous sovreignyties."

It's not "my way" per se. Just saying that in the places with the 'purest' free market economies tend to have the highest GDP per capita. No way could it work here, because, you know, we have souls and actually care about the less fortunate.

True blanket socialism blows and does not encourage growth. But social services isn't socialism. And Canada isn't socialist by any stretch of the imagination.

No it wouldn't be like using Monaco or Luxembourg. lol Absolute apples and oranges. There are more people living on one block in HK than the entirety of Lux and Mon combined. Not to mention people actually work for a living in HK. Also HK has some of the lowest tax rates in the world, but it's not considered a 'tax haven'.

But yes, obviously HK doesn't exactly scale well to the US

I work here everyday. I see the parents and kids both in my public high school where I work and at my kids' daycare school everyday. Your perception of things as former student is way, way off.

    So, what do you do?

So you know for a fact that its a real Gucci bag and not a knockoff, they are iPhones and not just a regular smart phone (which is just a phone now), how do you know which student gets free/reduced lunch?
