Gingrich vs. Obama

The Constitution of the United States of America is not written, nor is it based off of the Bible. There are not citations to scripture in any Amendment. Therefore I want to keep religion OUT OF POLITICS, again the reason I will never vote Republican.

I like to be helpful, so here goes. The world didn't know the notions of equal rights and freedom and liberty until the Christians came. Our strong ideas of liberty we owe to Scripture. The Founders wanted to create a political document, not a theological treatise, so Biblical citations would have been left out. However, they relied heavily on Scripture for most of their ideals.

Have read it and no it wasn't. Freedom of Religion proves it and no one faith deserves preference over any other, nor should their views and beliefs be the law of the land.

Just to understand you better are you agnostic/atheist?

The Framers weren't Christian. They were deists. Meaning they only believed in one certain god. Not necessarily the Christian god but make no mistake, they believed and practice some type of religion and the US constitution may have not had a religious word in it but the framers thought process about what this country should be was based heavily on their "religious" values.

The Crusades were not out of Christian ideals. They were power hungry people claiming the favor of God to act out of their own desires.

Not at all, I believe in God but I don't think that Christians beliefs should be the end all. America gives people the right to practice freedom of religion and I feel that "land of the free" should mean that no one faith should get preferential treatment, nor should those views be put into law over all citizens of this country.

I say the same thing when people try to quote the bible to prevent gay marriage.

The bible is a big book with a lot of stuff in it and people interpret it many different ways.

There should be separation between the church and the state....

Onto the next thought, would you rather have a social worker run the country who tries to figure out how to get more for the less fortunate by using the system....ex: food stamps, welfare, etc..

Or an individual determined to repair the economy and give people incentive to work??

The longer you extend unemployment benefits and food stamps...the less incentive it gives people to go out and better themselves by working...

With all due respect, that's a dumb assertion made by those who want to dislike the Church. The good the Church has accomplished throughout the world far outweighs the bad. To answer your question, the Crusades started out as an honorable mission, but was unfortunately hijacked by non-Christians who did bad things in the name of the Church.

The bible clearly states that Gay marriage is an "abomination" before the Lord. If you've never read it you shouldn't act like you know it. Just saying.

Just not historically accurate. Jefferson was a deist. Most of the Founders were Christian.

You realize much of that is by choice. It's easy as crap for a Native American to get into college even on scholarship. Colleges would love it. They choose to stay home and they choose to live simply.

Yeah because being Native American is hard as hell. I don't think they chose to have their land/language/history/education system illegally taken, and population decimated. People don't just recover quickly from that to assimilate into society. The US government owes tribes billions of dollars and will probably never pay, the least they could do is send some of them to college for free. The funny part in all of this is you are a Seminoles fan.

  • John Adams stated "The general principles on which the fathers achieved Independence were ... the general principles of Christianity

Ben Franklin, at the Constitutional Convention, said: "...God governs in the affairs of men.

George Washington said in his final address:
"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports".

Don't fool yourself. The first act in the very frat continental congressional session was to open in a Christian prayer Which always ended in "Jesus Christ" thy son and savior". This country was founded on a Christian, Moral structure. These men Werent gonna add you had to be Christian in the constitution. That would have defeated the whole purpose.

Question?? Why does the government care about gay marriage??
Answer: because it's tax revenue...gay or straight, you have to purchase a marriage license no different then a tax....

Money drives an overwhelming majority of a politicians decisions...I don't the the feds should control anything associated with marriage

I'm educated on the matter and did numerous reports on it. They should get further support but they are the least "squeaky wheel" ever at this point.

And the FSU seminoles are the flagship university when it comes to working with their mascot's people group. We made the NCAA look foolish.

Correct, I don't attend any specific church but at times find myself in prayer to the higher power I believe in. I grew up in the Methodist Church (didn't like it) but again, our country allows people of all faiths to practice their religion and they shouldn't be subjected to laws of one particular faith.

This country was founded on a Christian, Moral structure.

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

    Treaty of Tripoli, Article XI.

John Adams thought it was important enough to put in writing that it wasn't.
