Global warming stopped 16 years ago

The figures reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012 there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures
This means that the ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996

Agreed, they need to spend more time on teaching kids simple grammar

  • Attached is a posting from the Met Office (supposedly where the report came from even though there actually was no report at all) where they provide the actual questions and answers from the interview.

Met Office in the Media: 14 October 2012 | Met Office News Blog on WordPress.com

An article by David Rose appears today in the Mail on Sunday under the title:

Who said global warning wasn't happening? The fact that man contributes to it is what I have a problem with.

Yes there is, and it must remain. Every year I give my brother a fake certificate showing I purchased 1,000 carbon offset credits in his name. If global warming goes away, I have to actually spend money on him.

Last I heard it was still called a theory. Its not global warming fact is it. There are periods of cooling (which also happened in the 20th century) periods of warming, & now periods of pause. All sounds like law of averages to me. The earth has cycles.

Why are cons so desperate to try and prove global warming is a hoax?

Now they're resorting to cherry picking data lol

I'm not getting in on this debate ITT, but I can't let this go: a scientific theory and a layman's theory are not the same thing.

Global warming is a hoax! Its a communist conspiracy to raise our taxes! Isn't that your solution for global warming. Raise taxes in the US.

So why has the earth never warmed as rapidly as it has during the last 150 years? Sure it has fluctuated, but not that quickly. This rise coincides with the beginning of the industrial revolution and has a direct correlation with C02 emissions.

All scientific models are "theories". Do you feel as strongly against the atomic model, gravity, and plate tectonics?

If congress wanted a tax against gravity does that mean gravity isn't a valid theory? No, it just means it is a stupid law.

Huge scam. If you dropped an apple and it just hovered in air, gravity would be holding it up. Because it falls to the ground proves gravity does not exist. Newton was a huge liberal, hippie, tree hugging, occupier.

oh really! How do you know the earth never warmed this quickly! Since you have data going back 150 yrs. How about 14,000 years. We all know the apocalyptic catastrophic consequences global warming extremist have warned us against have already come and gone. Just face it they used severely flawed computer models & tried to sell them off as fact. They have no clue what variables make the temps rise & fall. I'll tell you the biggest variable isn't even on this planet.

They exaggerated the effects, but nonetheless the planet is warming.

You don't find the almost simultaneous rises in CO2 levels and average surface temperature the least bit suspicious?

  • Anyone find it slightly odd that 97 percent of publishing climatologists state that human activity has directly contributed to global warming? One percent says we definitely aren't and 2 percent are uncertain.

But yeah, I'm sure gut feelings and what people read on Fred Sanger blogs are more legit than people who spend their lives in that field.

Can you site your source please. I find it hard to believe that 97 % of scientist agree with the very flawed computer models. What happened 300 hundred years ago when a wild fire sparked. Well they would just let it burn. A volcano can burp and let out more greenhouse gases then all of mankind in a given year. This "theory" is so flawed in more ways than one, & your computer models prove that.
