If I started a thread about my friend dying and god being a dick, I'd guarantee someone would post in it about me being wrong.

its a double standard that only works one way

Just gonna let y'all know that God is amazing. My sister flipped her car twice down a bank tonight, totaled her car and her airbags did not come out. She walked away with a little scratch on her chest. The man up stairs was watching over her tonight and I'm thankful.

    Glad she was not hurt.

  • Religious people respond with hostility any time anyone introduces the possibility that everything good that happens might possibly be attributed to anything but god.

Why can't you guys just acknowledge that not everyone believes the same things as you. The guy respectfully said he was happy that the OPs sister was OK but he wasnt sure this was a case of divine intervention.

Can't you respectfully disagree instead of rudely putting him down?

Why can't you just stay out of the thread in the first place and not try to cause problems because you and I both know what is going to happen when some douche like this guy comes into a thread and says some shit like that...

THINK BEFORE YOU POST AND DON'T ACT LIKE THE VICTIM WHEN YOU POST SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

Another funny argument, actually. So, when someone makes a statement that it was God keeping his sister safe--because of his FAITH in God--then he should really have faith in a seatbelt??

Why can't the Seatbelt believer just not interject his opinion and be respectful of the OP's faith???????????? It's a two-way street. If the Seatbelt believer was courteous of the OP's faith, then we would not even be arguing this point. I guess it's the Christian's fault, though, like always....

You and I both know that someone is going to post that, so why not apply the same logic to the person starting the thread?

Its a two way street. This is what I hate about very religious people, specifically Christians. They have 0 ability to view things from both sides. You come in here and ruthlessly attack him because he introduced the idea that anything other than God was the cause of this.

The OP makes a God thread knowing other people will express their opinion and your cool with that, but the guy who expresses his opinion deserves to be verbally abused...

The seatbelt believer expressed his opinion respectfuy.

And he has been called a douche and been verbally abused.

It's blatantly clear who is in the wrong here.

Read the guys post, he started it out with "I'm glad your sister is OK".

They responded by calling him a douche and complaining that he posted that he didn't think this particular case was divine intervention.

    Its not right.

I read it, he should have stopped at I am glad your sister is OK instead of turning this into a pissing match.

    You're entitled to your opinion.

I see a slew of people attributing it to god and no one attacking them for it.

I see one person attribute it to seatbelts and safety measures in cars and a whole group of people verbally abusing him.

To me, it seems like a bunch of religious bullies putting a guy down. That's my opinion.

I had no intention of turning this into a pissing match between atheists, or agnostics in my case, and Christians. I stated very clearly that I'm glad the OP's sister is doing well. It's not every day you can have such a terrible wreck and live to tell about it. I am simply pointing out that this may not be the "Godly miracle" that it's being made out to be. If you want to believe so, then that's fine. I just have a hard time believing that God would intervene with an automobile accident, but not intervene with children diagnosed with leukemia. To me, it seems more like the seatbelt did it's job.

In every thread about religion this dude does this. If I am correct he even stated that he was at one time/or still is a Christian. Yet he constantly has things to say such as this.

Sorry about my silly, sacrilegious notion that maybe, just maybe, the device intended to save someone in the event of an automobile accident, may have served its purpose. How outlandish of me.

  • For heaven's sake...good manners dictate you take your cue from the OP...he specifically mentioned God. If you don't agree with it, simply offer your best wishes without bringing your unsolicited agendas..if you can't do that, shut up and don't contribute to the thread.

Common courtesy and simple respect for others on a very sensitive issue.

    Common courtesy!

Just our of curiosity, does that mean it's uncourtious for people to mention God in any thread not specifically about God?

Just trying to understand the rules here.
