    I guess this is just a theory,too.

Are you serious? It clearly states THEORY and then you try to argue that it does not?

Why will you not concede the difference between a laymans definition of theory with the scientific definition of theory?

Yes. A theory that has a stated hypothesis that is proved through observation and experimental evidence. A theory that explains how things work. Like the atomic theory or plate tectonic theory.

Are you going to question that there are atoms or the continents have shifted over time to their current positions?

"A scientific theory summarizes a hypothesis or group of hypotheses that have been supported with repeated testing. A theory is valid as long as there is no evidence to dispute it. Therefore, theories can be disproven. Basically, if evidence accumulates to support a hypothesis, then the hypothesis can become accepted as a good explanation of a phenomenon. One definition of a theory is to say it's an accepted hypothesis."

I'm not here to get into a deep debate, that's not for me. But I do have a question for you...

Do you think that creationism, where some supernatural being just picked pieces here and there to make us and other creatures look how we look, is a more "realistic" view of how we came to be as compared to humans and other creatures deriving from a single-cell organism that over time manipulates and evolves to better adapt to its surrounding environment?

You don't necessarily have to disagree with evolution to have that opinion. You can believe what you believe. Like I said earlier, I'm not debating you or blasting your opinion. peace

I do believe in a creator and in the divine, I know that there are some Christians who believe in evolution as a way that God created all things but I don't tend to look at it like that.

Actually every single one of us comes from single celled organisms. That has nothing at all to do with evolution.

Here is the thing. Is it really that hard to concieve evolving from single celled organisms considering the fact that each individual actually starts out as single celled organisms? Part of the evidence for evolution is the similarities of embryos.

You do realize that the theory evolution will/could never become a "law" or a "fact" right?

A scientific theory needs a mountain of evidence for it and absolutely no evidence against it - it is the most accepted a hypothesis could ever be. And no matter how much more evidence piles up for evolution (last I heard it was something like 2.6 million papers for and 0 papers against), it will never become a law.

Creationism is not a theory. It's a story. Scientific theories need peer-reviewed evidence.

In science, a theory is a mathematical or logical explanation, or a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation.

The defining characteristic of a scientific theory is that it makes falsifiable or testable predictions about things not yet observed. The relevance, and specificity of those predictions determine how (potentially) useful the theory is. A would-be theory which makes no predictions which can be observed is not a useful theory. Predictions which are not sufficiently specific to be tested are similarly not useful. In both cases, the term ‘theory’ is inapplicable.

Additionally, a theory is generally only taken seriously if it:
    - is tentative, correctable and dynamic, in allowing for changes to be made as new data is discovered, rather than asserting certainty, and
    - is the most parsimonious explanation, sparing in proposed entities or explanations, commonly referred to as passing the Occam’s razor test.

In scientific usage, a theory does not mean an unsubstantiated guess or hunch, as it can in everyday speech. A theory is a logically self-consistent model or framework for describing the behavior of a related set of natural or social phenomena. It originates from or is supported by experimental evidence (see scientific method). In this sense, a theory is a systematic and formalized expression of all previous observations, and is predictive, logical, and testable. In principle, scientific theories are always tentative, and subject to corrections or inclusion in a yet wider theory. Commonly, a large number of more specific hypotheses may be logically bound together by just one or two theories. As a general rule for use of the term, theories tend to deal with much broader sets of universals than do hypotheses, which ordinarily deal with much more specific sets of phenomena or specific applications of a theory.

Dinosaur-like creatures are mentioned in the Bible. The Bible uses ancient names like “behemoth” and “tannin.” Behemoth means kingly, gigantic beasts. Tannin is a term which includes dragon-like animals and the great sea creatures such as whales, giant squids, and marine reptiles like the plesiosaurs that may have become extinct.

The Bible's best description of a dinosaur-like animal is recorded in Job chapter 40. “Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox. What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly! His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron. He ranks first among the works of God…” (Job 40:15-19).

The book of Job is very old, probably written around 2,000 years before Jesus was born. Here God describes a great king of the land animals like some of the biggest dinosaurs, the Diplodocus and Apatosaurus. It was a gigantic plant-eater with great muscles and very strong bones. The long Diplodocus had leg bones so strong that he could have held three others on his back.

The behemoth were not afraid. They did not need to be; they were huge. Their tails were so long and strong that God compared them to cedars - one of the largest and most spectacular trees of the ancient world.

So dinosaurs roamed the earth 5,000 years ago? That's a pretty big stretch. I would think that if there 20 ft tall dinosaurs roaming around, that there would be more mention of them that a few obscure passages...
